Getting rid of the tire around my waste?

Hello,

I'm new to this forum. Starting as a teen into my mid-twenties I was very athletic and a heavy lifter. At twenty-five I had a, "mid-life," crisis of sorts--that's the only way I can explain it--and I stopped lifting weights and taking care of myself. I have never used any supplements in training other than the occasional protein shake.

About three months ago, my doctor told me my cholesterol, blood sugar, and blood pressure were trending towards dangerous and unhealthy. At that point, I woke myself up and decided to start working out again.

I'm 5'9"--almost 5'10", but I round down to be conservative about my progress. I started three months ago weighing 215. About a three weeks ago, I hit 204.

Good News for Me:

My strength and endurance are almost at the point where I left off five years ago
My most recent check-up follow up, my cholesterol and blood sugar were better than normal. My blood pressure was actually, 100/70--I haven't had that kind of number in years.

The Bad News for Me:

For some reason, my liver is a tad bit fatty--I rarely drink.
I can't beat the 204 benchmark. I neither gain nor lose weight; I'm just stuck at 204.

Conclusion

Overall, my body looks better but I still have a belly. The transformation of my belly is interesting. Before working out again, my belly was a hard belly. Then after a month of working out, my belly became a soft belly. Now it is a tire around my waste, meaning it is flat until the bottom of my belly where all the fat is kind of clumped like the bottom of a potato sack.

Questions

1. How do I beat the 204 mark I've been stuck at for three weeks? My doctor wants me to be between 190-195.

2. How do I get rid of the belly? My diet is OK with the exception of some days where I have too much salt.

If you need more detail feel free to ask. Thanks for any replies.

To start with you can't spot reduce. Try to include some cardio in your routine to burn extra calories.

I agree with Trek. When I plateued on body fat reduction I started doing an hour every other day on the eliptical. The fat fell off me quickly. At 5 9" I am surprised your doctor isn't pushing you more towards 180-185 lbs....
