Getting back to my glory days

My name is Bec and I'm a 28 year old female (soon to be 29) and weigh 220lbs.
When I was in my early 20's I weighed about the same as I do now but in a span of 6 months I lost 75lbs, weighed 145 lbs and at a size 5. I stayed that way for about 2 years and then slowly gained it all back. I am back to square one and want to lose all this extra weight again.
My goal is to weight 165 lbs (a loss of 55lbs). I was really tiny when I was at my lowest weight and people always thought I was too boney and sick looking. (I am 5'8") and I want to look good, not like I could snap in half! Lol.
I don't have many friends so I need extra motivation to keep working out and eating healthy.
My first goal is to workout 30 days in a row with hopes of forming a habit. This past week I worked out 4 times but not in a row. Yesterday I worked out tho, so if I workout today that will be 2 days in a row. I hope I can make it!
Friday morning will be my first weigh in.

Welcome to the forum and good luck!! I'm trying to get down to 165..Seems a long way off but make little goals and it'll fly by :D xxx

Thanks Hana!
I noticed you have a diary yourself.
Good luck with your ongoing battle as well.

good to see you started a diary, what do your workouts consist of ?
Right now I am using Jillian Michaels workout videos. I am alternating between the Banish Fat - Boost Metabolism and The No More Trouble Zones workout which are each about 50 minutes long. When I don't have that much time I try and do the 30 day Shred video which is only 20 minutes long.
Her workouts use your own body weight and a pair of 5lb weights.
Besides the horrible background music I find her quite motivating.
I sometimes go running on the treadmill at the gym but because of the crazy amount of snow lately I haven't been able to get there plus my membership is running out so I have to find other ways to workout anyway.

Speaking of which I just finished todays workout! Woohoo!

Hey Bec!

We seem to have a similar background. I lost ~50lbs and gained back 25lbs. So what we know from this is that we've done it once and that we can definitely do it again! 165lbs is very reasonable and a great goal to work towards.

I know you mentioned you wanted to work out 30 days a row but if your body is telling you to take a break, don't be afraid to take one! You don't want to burn yourself out. Taking off a day is a good way to rest your body. You'll be back on it the next day.

I've heard a lot of good things about Jillian Michael's workout videos and now you're making me want to try them. Maybe I'll work that into my work out for next week.

Congrats on working out 4 days. 4 days is better than 0. You're on the right path! You can do it! :)

Thank you so much for the encouragement!

You definitely should try a Jillian Michaels workout. They are really hard and I definitely feel great afterwards. She uses circuit training and doesn't let you rest so your body really really really has to work hard. It's better than any workout I've done at the gym and I believe keeping things simple is the best way to go in order to stick with things. At least that is how I lost the weight before. It was circuit training that did the trick.

Since wed I worked out 4 times but I only did a workout the past 2 days in a row. I was thinking if my body needed a rest I would just do the 20 minute workout. I just find that when I take a day or two off I start to lose my momentum and I really want to get this healthy habit engrained into my lifestyle the way it used to be back in the day!

Soooo... 2 days down, 28 to go. :)

I want to work out everyday I’ve done 3days so far. I was planning 2 days of but I may see how far I can go just to test myself! My first weigh in is on Sunday so fingers crossed I’ve lost sumin =) good luck to you xx

30 days straight is killer! Personally i would say take at least one day a week to let your body recover until it gets used to your new routine. REST is just as important as important as the workout. If you keep breaking your body down without giving it a chance to rebuild you can really hurt yourself (literally). as some one who's lost between 120- and 140 lbs, listen to your body! i go six days a week personally, and if i feel overly sore or weak i don't push it. better to take one day off to recover than to lose weeks over an injury that could have been prevented! but all in all good luck! i look forward to seeing your progress!

3 days in a row is an excellent start.
I didn't work out today but I feel like I did and I just don't know if I can do even a 20minute workout tonight.
My friend hasn't been able to clean her apartment for months due to different operations she has been having plus she is somewhat of a hoarder. I volunteered to help get her place back in order. Today I went over and took everything out of her bathroom and cleaned the whole thing. Just to clean it took about 2 and a half hours. Then I had to help her go through all her products and such. We threw away 6 garbage bags of stuff from the bathroom alone and reorganized it. Then I had to cary all those garbage bags down 6 flights of stairs (there is no elevator) and up a hill to the dumpster. The whole process took about 6 hours. On top of it all that time of month started for me today.
I am exhausted. That 30 day challenge really isn't looking so good for me at the moment. Perhaps I should come up with a new plan?

exercise isn’t just swimming, running, walking ect its getting active :) don’t know what everyone else thinks but I class this as exercise and work outs as heavier exercise. Heavier exercise gets results quicker but I would still class this as a job well done =)

LOL. Thanks. That makes me feel so much better. I swear I did sweat like a pig cleaning that bathing and carrying those bags.
I won't be going over there again for a couple weeks and the first day of that TOM is always the worst for me so I'm am going to try again with the 30 days in a row starting tomorrow.
Laura... I'm on for that challenge if you are!
Longest chain of workouts wins! I think it's a good idea and a great way to keep each other motivated.

your on! i'll class my day 1 as today...and what a stat today was! i woke up late and i have a media event on for work in 1 hour so ill have to go swimming this evening!
cleanign garage out today so should be getting really active all day =) cant wait to be a size 14 (my expected dress size if i lose 2lb a week) by my birthday on july the 5th. thats all im thinking about while im munching through my apples this morning for breakfast!
rite have to get moving if i'm going to get to work on time!
good luck today =) (but you knowi'm going to win :biggrinjester: )
hehe

Oooo. Now I'm excited. I actually just woke up not too long ago I slept in late cause I couldn't sleep last night but I woke up and ate a bowl of delicious grapes for breakfast which I don't normally have but my mother gave them to me the other day in a care package. Yes I still get those at 28 years old. :)
My first weight in is tomorrow so I am a little nervous especially since it's that TOM. I'm scared the scale will go upwards instead of downwards so I will be working super hard during my workout today.

Cheeki,
Good luck to you too today. I think I may win! Lol. However... I say if we both make it 30 days we both win. Deal? Then maybe we can take a day off and Do it again! haha. Or we can just keep going. I guess we will see. :)

good luck with your weigh in mines sunday, im hoping to have lost somthing!
going swimming tonight at 8 to do my mile but not really lookig forward to it! oh well al im thinking now is...whats for tea!!

I did my workout today and I really did my best to push through. I did the cardio dvd today and it did feel slightly easier than last time I did it. I am pretty sure my performance was slightly improved so I feel really good about that.

As far as my eating today I had to resort to eating breaded fish sticks which is not the best but it was one of the few things I had left considering tomorrow is grocery day. Everything else was healthy tho. I had soup and grapes. I will probably finish up the soup for supper with a baked potato and some leftover roasted veggies.

You are doing an awesome job! March 8th will come in no time and you will be closer to your goal!

Let me tell you that sometimes the scale can be a pain because I lost 7 pounds my first month but there were days in a row that would still have the exact same reading and then one morning it was like 3 pounds magically went away!

Hope your day went well :)
