getting 11 year old fit for footy

At 11 years old, the most important (and most significantly affected by training) aspects to train are agility and coordination. Essentially, the sport-specific drills that you likely already utilize. Speed, strength, and stamina will come naturally to kids this age just in practice and play. There's no real point of "working out" young children until they hit adolescence.

^ I more or less agree with this, although I'd add in technique training as a big factor (although maybe that's implied by coordination). So, teaching them how to run, kick, throw and pass etc.

EDIT: I see you're from the UK, so football probably means less throwing and more dribbling. But you get the point. The main things to drill them on are the things they'll specifically be doing on the field.

Make all activities fun with a ball in hand or ball involved. Game orientated activities get kids to compete, participate and they don't even realise they have just taken part in a fitness session.
