General Weight Loss Help

Ok so I figured I need to do something about my weight as for too long have I been overweight. I'm around 5'9 and 14st and 20 years old. I am at university and I find it very difficult to lose weight and probably tend to gain weight. When i am home I find it is easier as my food is made for me and there is always healthy food available when im hungry. But when I am here I have no idea what to eat. 60% of my food is microwavable/oven food or takeaways, the other 40% is pasta. My diet is terrible, I go to the shops and just pick up what I want, crisps/biscuits/fizzy drinks. I find it very hard to even find someone I consider healthy as I can't cook.

I need your input into how I can improve my diet while im in university. Main things that are"good" that I already eat are fruit/pasta. Other than that I don't have anything that isn't high in fat/sugar. Please help. I only eat chicken for meat, and I have no idea how I can incorporate vegetables into my diet. Should I get some vitamin tablets?

thanks

Well ... I had to laugh a little at your post.

You can't cook ... you can learn. It's not hard.
How to incorporate veggies? Eat them. :)

Don't make this harder than it is.

Instead of buying a bag of chips or a candy bar or junk - buy an apple or a banana or a bag of baby carrots. Instead of eating a hamburger, get a turkey sandwich - or even better a salad with some kind of grilled meat (no dressing). Instead of eating chips or crisps ... don't. :) Drink water or unsweetened tea instead of sodas.

The bottom line here is that you have to make a decision to do this. No one can stop you from buying packets of crisps or boxes of biscuits or sugary sodas except you. If you have the money for a packet of crisps, you have the money for an apple or an orange or some carrots. It's simply choosing to eat what's healthy over what's unhealthy.

Ok but is eating pasta a healthy option to have for every main meal? Would a diet of oatmeal for breakfast - random fruit - sandwichs and pasta be a good diet?

I would suggest you read th sticky posts in the nutrition area. YOu can't take foods as a standalone item and determine their healthiness or not. You need to see about eating things in context. Is pasta unhealthy? Not as a concept, no. Is eating it for every meal healthy? No, not really.

You need to learn about balancing your diet to make sure you get a proper combination of nutrients.

YOu need to make sure that your diet isn't overloaded with carbs (pasta, bread, etc.) and make sure you're getting enough protein and healthy fats.

Hey !!!!!!!!!!!!

You will lose even more weight if you exercise along with eating a healthy diet.
... If you starve yourself, you will be killing your body.
