Hi there, I posted an article in the newcomers thread, and was pointed to here. Since i want to sort of blog / keep a journal of my progress this seems to be a great fit for me.

I read a couple of articles that have me pretty interested in a new concept for weight loss (for me, doubtful for many others).

1. was about someone losing 150 lbs in 6 months. 150 lbs in 180 days.

2. was about gamers making a great fit at the gym. The idea behind it is gamers are trained to concentrate on a single goal for weeks at a time. It was an interesting read for me since i've never thought of approaching weight loss / working out in such a way. Another reason it interested me was the fact that two gamers who met working out after being lifelong out of shape nerds, turned themselves into fit entrepenuers profiting of this very idea. Very cool.

So i'd like to hit myself with daily goals for calories, carbs, and all the things I should have, and shouldn't have. I'd also like to set myself some Weekly goals, like so many hours for cardio, and fitness. And then come the monthly goals for weight loss.

I know for most people losing 20+ pounds a month is unhealthy. I've seen shows like the biggest loser where they set a weekly goal for people and some of them have 5-10 pounds a week they are trying to lose.. meaning 20-40 lbs a month. Im ready to push myself very hard I just need to provide myself with goals so I can be satisfied i've done a good job everday, and results to see at the end of each month.

I also understand that some people get burned out of hammering away quickly or once they reach their goal they go back to their old routines, but i've always loved working out. Early on in football i was embarresed by the weight I put up (low bench) but once i improved and got over my self esteem issues I was motivated and enjoyed it. After highschool I was working full time for myself 15 hours a day everday, always on the move and not ever getting very much sleep. I always ate out, and went from about 270-280 to 330. I decided it was time to work out again.. which was like a freight train hitting me in the chest everything was so much harder haha. First night after stretching, I blew out my knee and tore my acl. Here I am a couple years later... acl still torn because I cannot afford the downtime of being in a wheelchair after the surgery needed, and also no healthcare :\.

I need help in understanding how protien, carbs, fat, saturated fat, vitamens, and all the other nutrients affect my body and the weight loss process so I can understand how to better lose the weight.

I've never been a fish guy, but I can and will eat whatever it takes to get this done. Honestly the hardest part will be dropping soda completely since its basically the single liquid I drink.

So, monthly goal will be: lose 23 lbs each month. (Now, I understand with such an extreme change my first month will be great, and it will increasingly get much tougher.. so maybe you could help me with adjusting these monthly weight goals to a more realistic amount each month to finally total 110 by July 29th.

As far as Daily and weekly goals, I will need some help because I do not understand nutriton. For cardio time I could use a little guidance as to what would be a good amount. I'd like to do much better than good, but am unsure as to what would be a good amount.

Also, I'd like to learn about suppliments. I don't know very much about any. I know that there are some out there, and some are great for certain tasks, and compiling a group into your routine can be helpful. However I have no idea where to start on that. I think a better understanding of nutrition will help me in this aspect big time.

And since to even really reply here, you will have written my book. I'd like to thank you for taking the time ,and offering any advice you can. Also please don't exhaggerate or sugar-coat anything. I'm here to learn and the only way to do so is to get real, honest advice.

Sorry, i'm reading some articles on the site, and one mentions that 1 lb of fat = 3,500 calories. So is it as simple as If I burn more than 3,500 calories a day than I take in, i'll lose at least 1 lb a day?
