gaining weight ??????????????

Hi I hope you guys can give me a little advice, I am 5ft 7 inches tall and weigh 125 pounds a fortnight ago I weighed 121pounds. Five days a week I do an hour of ashtanga in the morning and in the evening half an hour of cardio and either weight train or do pilates or fit ball for another half an hour. Its not that I particularly want to weigh less as I am within my normal range but three pregnancies have redistributed my body weight so I still have visible cottage cheese like fat on my abdomen (even though it is flat). This is what I am trying to lose weight for to get rid of that fat, the rest of me I fairly happy with. I eat around 1500 to 1700 calories a day and most of the rest of the day I am reasonably active as I am at home with two small children. So why am I gaining weight????. My diet is v sensible as my eldest son has adhd and is v chemical sensitive, so every thing is home made from vege burgers to bread.
Thanks for your help :)

Hi,

What you eat is important in fat loss. By that I don't just mean how many calories you take in in a day, but what proportion of those calories are fat.

Cottage cheese is a skin condition, not a fat issue. They've found that the fat directly underneath "cottage cheese" skin is the same as fat underneath "normal" skin - and that women who lose weight do not necessarily lose their cottage cheese. As far as I'm aware, the only real treatment is ultrasonic liposuction and laser surgery on the skin, but these are both very new technologies and I'm not sure about their efficacy.

As far as a 4 lbs difference, this can be fecal weight (unexcreted waste), water weight (retained water in the body), or to a lesser extent, muscle/fat weight. There's also the potential that you're just having a little hormonal crisis, which is quite common among women as they begin to age.

as they begin to age ??????? I beg your pardon :) mind you it is possibly hormonal I did stop breastfeeding three months ago

I possibly need to buy a body fat monitor and throw out the scales as I have quite a great deal of visible muscle on my upper torso now which I had really noticed till hubby and I were being silly and doing muscle flexing poses. That in itself could account for weight gain I guess, thanks for all your help though :D
