Full Body vs 3-day Split

I have been working out for about 4-5 months now. I am 16, 6''2, 160lbs. At the gym I go to for the first 6 months personnal trainers give you free routines. For the first few months he was giving me Full Body Workouts 3x a week. Now he just gave me a diffrent type of split: Pec/Bicep - Back/Tricep - Shoulder/Legs.
I am a bit puzzled as to why he gave me this but didn't ask. I have been reading around and most people seem to think a FBW is the way to go.(??)

I was wondering if this split is good, and if it isn't should I go back to a FBW?
Why exactly is a FBW better than this split?
And finally,
Should I forget this routine, and make my own Full Body Workout?
Thanks in advance.

What was giving to you was the standard body part training. For you I feel that program would serve little purpose (as for most people it wouldn't either.)

What are your goals?

Granted full body works for most any, but still, I am sure we can point you to a better direction with a little more info.

full body. can you trype inn the routine the trainer gave you?
if you want to make your own, search for "full body workout" and look through the threads you find.

Either stick with the FBW you were already doing, or create a new FBW routine. I agree with theleip, I don't think a split routine is for you at this point. You'll do better with FBW.

Awesome replies guys thanks. I am basicly working out so it can help me in sports and the looks :p. My goals are pretty much to build muscular mass(am I saying that right). I have been doing the old FBW routine for a while so I would probably have to make a new one. I don't have the routine he gave me with me but I will post it as soon as I get it.
