Frustrated...

Hi, before I ask my question I guess I should let you know where I'm at. Right now I'm 6'0'' and 168 pounds. I've come a ways considering this summer I weighed close to 190 pounds.

I feel better, and obviously look better, but there is still a layer of fat right above my belt line. I guess you could say I used to have a spare tire but have downgraded to a bike tire. The rest of my stomach looks OK except for that area right above my waist.

I was exercising and had a great ab routine but when I couldn't loose the flab on my lower abs I got frustrated and gave up. I decided to pick it up again but figured I should come here for help. What do you recommend for loosing that puggyness for lack of a better word right above your waist. Are there exercises that target that region that would help burn fat?

I'm just sort of frustrated and looking for help. Thanks in advance!!!

Actually I read the sticky threads. I thought my questions were being specific as the sticky threads where pretty general.

I know about calorie counting, working out, cardio, and all that. I wanted to know what worked best for other people in loosing weight in the area I was talking about.

Ok, yes you got me there. I wanted to know what worked best for other people in BUILDING MUSCLE in the area I was talking about.

To build muscle you need to be in a caloric surplus. To show definition of those muscle you need to be of low body fat. That is achieved by being in a caloric deficit. See the conundrum?

Instead of trying to focus on two things at once as it can't be done, focus on one. Seems from your post your focus is on losing body fat. Losing that will show the bottom layer of ab definition if you have it. Abs and losing body fat in general is all diet combined with smart training. If you want post your diet and training regime for critic.

All this stuff by the way is in the stickies;)

not sure if this will help but what is your goal? Seemed like you are counter-productive. You are trying to lose that Bike Tire BUT at the same time trying to do abs workout to build muscle in that area as well. If you have muscle in that area, you will get a lil bulge.

To lose that Bike tire, I would suggest doing more cardio and diet again with some abs workout. Just a suggestion. correct me if I am wrong but to have a nice 6 pack abs, don't one need like 7% body fat?

btw, GREAT job on losing from 190 to 168 lbs. Shows a lot of determination and focus.
