Fruit Smoothies

Anyone have any really good recipes for some fruit smoothies? I want to start making them daily to make sure I'm getting some good fruit intake and it's also a great drink imo. I have looked at a lot of pages on the web for some healthy recipes but there seem to be a ton of them that call for frozen fruits (banana's, strawberries, etc.), but I'm not really interested in the frozen stuff. Is it ok to just replace with fresh? And is it better to use water or milk or what?

i wounldnt use all water for a smoothie..becauase well thene it tastes watery. you could use par water and milk, or juice depending on what kind of moothie you want. i always use skim milk, or light soymilk, or a xtra low cal milk like FF calorie countdown milk. my fave milk based smoothie is strawberry banana with milk and vanilla protienpowder. strawberries and bananas with OJ is real good too!

I Usually have a fruit smoothie every morning or a "Green Smoothie" they are great! I don't use milk though just water and fresh fruit.... I haven't got one recipe :) mix it up and find what you like its always fun in the morning after working out. For example the one i had this morning was... banana, rockmelon, kiwi fruit, apple, ICE and half a glass of water so its not to thick and chunky. :p

Great recipe ...

I usually start with 30 grams of protein, 150 grams of water and leave it to cool and smoothen. Mine needs about 30 minutes to be really silky smooth. I then add 100 grams of quark (ornon-fat soft cheese or cottage cheese) and berries or fruit. I mix it and get a really thick shake. You might want to put some more water in it but it depends on the berries and the fruit.

Strawberry Peach Squeeze is one of my favorites:

1cup frozen peach slices
1/2 cup frozen strawberries
1/2 cup skim milk
6oz low fat vanilla yogurt
1 tbls lime juice

300 calories, 15g protein, 60g carbs, 2.5g fat, 3g fiber. It tastes great too! Perfect for after a workout.

Smoothies

Yo, I usually have a smoothie as a mid morning snack. I use it mainly to get in the loads of fruits I wouldn't get in my diet otherwise and get a little bit of vegetables in earlier in my day.

First of all, I use Green Tea as my liquid base, not water. I figure I may as well get some antioxidants in while I'm at it.

Variety is key: However one of my favorites is 2 Apples, 1 Kiwi, Handful of Strawberries, Yogurt, Ground Flax seed, Cinnamon, 1 teaspoon spirulina, two scoops of Cytosport Complete Whey, with iced green tea and a splash of lemon.
