Hey everyone.

I'm Sammi, (not that you couldnt tell) i'm 23 i've had food issues since i hit the good ol young female hormone change, with that everything grew.

I'm no good at dieting and motivation i lack because really all i want to do is sleep, because i have no energy, because i dont eat the right foods. blah blah the viscious circle. I can blame the increasing waist line on everything under the sun, but really i just make bad choices.

I'm hoping starting here is going to be the right choice.

I've been reading through other posts and am amazed that they make it look so easy, although i know that they had to go through a struggle everyday just like i will, Stacey seems to be an inspiration, she sounds just like me and i'm going to follow her example and get my butt in gear.

Hi Sami and welcome.

You know i think there are some factors that make dieting harder and some that make it easier.

Eating about the right number of calories for your height and weight is one. by using bmr calculator...

2. Bulking up your food quantities with lots of low calorie foods like vegetables and fruit.

3. EAting enough solid energy foods like complex carbs, sufficient lean proteins and a little bit of fat. All these foods in combo make life easier.

4. Making your food taste good by cooking it properly in tasty recipes. You really don't need cheese to make a recipe tasty either.

5. Psychologically. Have faith in your ability to win this battle, confronting the scales on a regular basis, not being overwhelmed with disappointment when the result is not what you hoped for, not hanging on to an idea of what the scale should read. There's a lot of little psychological skills that make it all easier.

6. Lifestyle - when you are close to and mixing with lots of other people. Their tempting behaviours might make it hard so you need to figure out strategies to minimise the temptations and maximise the support. Or you can balance the difficult events - like going to the pub with friends - with going to the gym regularly or other sports.

7. Being patient, being committed, being vigilant, being determined, being realistic.

8. Being quick to forgive yourself when you slip up.

9. Being honest with yourself. - don't lie to yourself about what you are eating with little justifications like oh its "only" this blah blah. Its not so bad.. or trying to pretend that you can have another serving of something wont make a difference, or that you deserve a reward because you have been good all week. All these little lies will bring you down and actually make the whole process harder. So you gotta be ruthlessly honest with yourself. If you are going to eat something high fat or high sugar or more than you should Be honest about it. Admit to yourself up front, that you know this is probably going to slow your weight loss but you are willing to accept the consequences of that decision.
