From mid summer of 2006 to fall I lost 30lbs. and maintained decent muscle mass.
I did this with high intensity interval training. I performed a lot of multijoint resistance exercises with one to two minute intense cardio drills inbetween (such as bear crawls, burpees, mountain climbers, stairs, skipping).
I also had to brush up my diet. This included taking out processed foods, sweets, alcohol, and cutting down on coffee. I ate only lean meats, lots of dark green vegetables, and healthy grains. Other key components of my diet included oatmeal, drinking lots of water, removing any salt or butter. My supplement regime included a multivitamin, fish oil, and whey isolate protein powder.
I have been able to maintain the weight loss. I have to give credit to my willpower and my knowledge that I obtained through studying kinesiology.
Good luck in all of your fitness goals,
