I was here before - a long time ago. I'm back. I've got to get serious about loosing. I'm back on blood pressure meds, and I don't like it. So...
Here are the answers to the recommended questions:
-- How much weight do you want to lose?About 70 pounds, give or take a few.
-- What is the time frame for reaching your target weight? I'd like to be done by my next birthday - October 12, 2009
-- How do you want to accomplish your goal (what methods do you want to use)? I need to make this a lifestyle change - something that will be permenant. If I go through all the trouble of losing it all now, I don't want to have to do it again in a few years.
-- Who or what can support you in reaching your goal?My biggest support has to be ME, but I'm hoping that people here and at Spark People will help.
-- How realistic is your goal? Very. I lost 30 pounds before, so I know it's possible, I just have to get serious about it.
-- When will you start? Every day is the first day.
What is your current height and weight? 5' 7", 202 pounds. That puts me at a BMI of 31.4.
If you were at an ideal weight now, what would that weight be? Around 135.
At what weight would you like to be at four months from now? 185 - that's 4 pounds per month.
Why do you want to lose weight? Family medical history has a funny way of sneaking up on you. I'm already on blood pressure meds, at 31, and don't want to go down the Type II Diabetes route, like my mom, grandma, and several aunts.
What obstacles could get between you and your weight loss goals? Lack of support at home. The hubby says he doesn't care what I weigh - and while I appreciate being taken as I am, the fewer suggestions of "lets have pizza for supper" the better. And eating healthier is less convienent than eating crap. Honestly.
Why do you think that you now have a weight problem? I'm assuming this means "how did it happen" rather than "what makes you think this." I'm lazy. Plain and simple. I don't like to work out, and I don't like to cook. So convienent, prepackaged food is the easy choice. So is staying in front of the tv or computer.
What lifestyle changes do you think would help you lose weight? Getting in the habit of going to the gym more often. And eating better foods.
Have you lost weight in the past? If so, what has worked in the past to help you lose weight? Yes, 30 pounds. I cut calories and was going to the gym 4 days a week. That was before I went back to school, though.
Why do you believe that you did not lose weight or you gained the weight back? I got lazy again. I stopped going to the gym, nobody else in the house was watching what they ate, and it was easy to go back to being lazy.
What, if anything, has not worked for you in the past in helping you to lose weight? Why do you think it did not work? Being on a restrictive diet - you know, like Atkins or South Beach. Anything that makes you cut out a food group completely will not work - that's what I'll want to have all the time if I try.
Would you try writing down all food and drink consumed for a given period of time? Yes, here and at Spark People. I need some accountablitiy.
Do you cook at home often? If so, what do you cook? I'm now in school 2 nights a week, and I go straight there from work, so those nights are out. I have been trying to cook more, though. I just don't like to cook.
How often do you go out to eat? Where do you go? Less now than we used to. I eat at Subway a lot for school nights, but with the hubby, we tend to go to the steak houses and such. Pizza.
What are your three favorite foods? Macaroni and Cheese, chicken fried steak, and mashed potatoes. See why I have a weight problem?
What are three things you can do differently when it comes to food? Cook more, smaller portions, add more fruits and veggies.
If you woke up tomorrow and your body was exactly the way you want it, what would be different? Nothing except I could find jeans easier and clothes shopping would be more fun.
Do you eat when you are not hungry? Sometimes, and that has to STOP.
Do you binge eat (large amounts at a time)? No.
Do you hide your food or eat in secret? No.
Do you eat when you are sad, nervous, or depressed? Not really. That I'm aware of, anyway.
Do you eat as a reward? I have in the past.
Do you eat while watching TV or using the computer? Yes.
What do you normally eat for a meal? Some sort of meat, a starch of some sort. Like I said, I don't like to cook.
What type of snacks do you eat? Depends on what I'm in the mood for. Carrots are good, but so are chocolate.
In terms of exercise, what, if anything, are you currently doing? I have a standing appointment 2 days a week with the personal trainer at the gym. I'm fixing to add at least 1 extra day in there, and then, when this semster is done, add another.
Where do you go for exercise? A local public gym? School/work gym? Home? Local gym
What, if anything, are your three favorite types of exercise? Favorite exercises? Isn't that some sort of oxymoron?
What is your daily/weekly/monthly/yearly motivation to move towards your goals? Haven't figured that out yet.
Do you have rewards for certain goals? No. I find that most things I can think of are things I would normally do anyway.
Well, those are the answers to some icky questions.
