And lots of it!
Hello. My name is Kevin and I live in the Tampa Bay area of Florida. I'll be moving to the UK in the next year or so to further pursue my lifelong goals of entertaining miscreants and malcontents. I'm a self-employed website/graphic designer which is one of the biggest reasons I've let myself go physically.
I am 5'7" and my current weight is just under 90 kg (200 lbs). I have a 41" waist. My main concern is fitness. My stamina, coordination, agility, strength, speed, and balance are far from where I would like them to be. Having a good physique is a nice perk, but it's not what drives me.
I am here because this place appears to be a positive environment for people like me who are attempting to get in shape. Physical fitness is not something I'm a stranger to, but I have let myself go in the 4 years since I left the Marine Corps. Now I have trouble standing up without grunting. It was only recently that I measured my waist and that ended in a barrage of loudly sung expletives that would have made Dennis Leary blush. Needless to say, I'm in worse shape than I'm prepared to tolerate.
I've started doing minor work outs to ease myself back into this and, in doing so, I have discovered that getting back in shape is harder than I thought it would be. I guess I'm just getting older and my body isn't as resilient as it was when I started working out in my teens.
Despite my current physical condition, I do know quite a bit about physical fitness from the years that I was very serious about it, so I'm hoping to be able to offer some help and encouragement to others who need it.
I've looked around and I found the C25K program on this forum. I believe that is going to be my first step toward getting back in shape. It looks to be exactly what I've been searching for.
My ultimate goal is to be in better shape than I was before. I never would have thought that I could get so out of shape, and I know that the road back is not going to be an easy one. At my peak, I was running 10 miles. I would like to surpass that this time around.
That's more than enough about me. Just wanted to break the ice and get the critical info out of the way. I'll answer any question you throw at me to the best of my abilities and nothing is taboo so have no fear.
This concludes the boring part of the show.
