Hi Everyone! I’m new here but have been struggling with something at work lately. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to deal with free food at work? I feel like there’s constantly free food and I try hard so to say no. I feel like whenever I say no though my co-workers judge me for not eating it and get offended almost. What’s the best way to politely say no and have them move on and stop bothering me about it?

Today someone came by my desk to let me know there were cookies in the break room to which I replied okay I’m not going to get one. Then she said why? Are you on a diet? For some reason this really offended me! It’s not your business if I’m on a diet or not maybe I just don’t want a cookie today!!

Does anyone else have similar stories/tips/advice? Sorry for the long rant, I’m definitely a little hangry :)

Hi, Sar & welcome to the forum. Can you just smile & say "thanks for letting me know?"& just don't have any. It is no-one else's business what you eat or don't eat. You could always say you are not hungry, but they probably wouldn't notice if you have anything anyway. If they don't let up perhaps you could say you have been advised to limit your sugar intake. It is no-one's business. Try not to get angry with them as that is not good for you.
