I was hoping I would find something about rib injuries on here. I am just now dealing with one. Not sure if it is broken, bruised, or even if it is a strained intercostal muscle, but dealing with a lot of pain on my left side near the lower part of my rib cage.
I was on vacation and was planning on coming back and hitting it hard just before the weather warms up here in MI. Now I'm looking at sitting on my butt relaxing as much as I can for this to heal.
What I want to know is - Is it too early to try to see what I can and can't do at the gym? I'm thinking that a bike may be my only option, but should I sit around for a while and let this heal more before trying that or pop some ibuprofen and hop on a bike for 15 - 20 minutes and give it a try? Not sure what kind of weight training I'll be able to do, but I really want to get back ASAP.
Like I said, I'm not entirely sure the extent of the injury. Haven't gone to the Dr. because from everything I've heard - there isn't anything you can really do for a broken rib. The pain is manageable with over-the-counter ibuprofen, so I'm dealing. Just a really big bummer.
