Studies have shown those who keep track of their daily calorie intake may lose more weight then those who don't. Tracking your calories will help you with portion sizing. You'll know exactly how many calories you're consuming instead of just guessing. I bet you'll be surprised with the actual number. You also want to make sure your consuming enough calories. The last thing you want do is starve or deprive yourself. Keeping a food journal can also keep you accountable, motivated, and help you attain and maintain your goals.

I've witness the difference of food journaling and not food journaling first hand with my PT clients. Those of my clients who recorded everything far exceeded those that didn't. They also ate more well balanced meals getting in all macronutrients (proteins, carbs, healthy fats).

It might seem like an inconvenience or a hassle to record everything, but doing the extra things make all the difference in the world. There's a lot of good apps out there to help you too. One great one to check out is My Fitness Pal. It'll break down everything and give you a time frame when you should be able to meet your desired goal. Check it out and good luck!
