Greetings yoo lovely folk!
Here we go.It's blog-a-lot time!!

Well,I'm pretty excited by all of this.
I'm new to this forum but have recieved such a lovely welcome and through reading many of the posts here can see it's an amazing community to be apart of.
I've always liked the idea of keeping a log of all the things I eat during each day and any exercise I do.I think it must be so satisfying (and horrifying at times I'm sure!) to see everything written out in front of you,so you can see what you can afford to cut out and be without.I've tried in the past a few times, but with no real success. It's lame the reason why to-I lied to myself!Who does that!?What is the point in doing that!?but yes,I knew exactly what I ate each day and yet couldn't honestly write it all down-to make myself feel better.-There will be no more of that-ohhh no!

So,at this moment,I weigh about 147lbs (10.5 stone-I always seem to talk in stone, why so old fashioned I don't know!) and I would love to get down ot 135lbs (about 9 stone) which a few years ago,I used to be.I'm quiet short and just so lumpy and bumpy, lack so much confidence and feel so heavy. Not only heavy physically but, inside to.I think trying to get a bit fitter and eating better things will actually make me feel happier.
Indeed,food effects my mood!
And as you can tell,I am fan of rambling on and talking about my thoughts and feelings. But I can't help it,I'm really rather passionate about food!I love cooking and baking. But above all snacking, and that's definatly my downfall.Lots of chocolate, sweets, crisps on lazy sofa days...not good!

I've decided to take up jogging.I want to get more fit and feel this will help a great deal.I've done it for two days so far-which is probably more than i've done in the past ten years!!It's hard work though,I mean,I try and walk alot but not at a fast pace at all! So,it's going to take a while to find a good pace and just, generally get better!

Well anyway.More on that as it develops haha!

I'll be sure to update later with what I've eaten today!Hopefully the start to something great!!

Hello and welcome to the forum!

Great idea to start a diary. Good luck and keep us updated!

good luck with the diary and diet, its easy if you just stick to it and dont fall back into the old routine when things havent gone your way.

Thank you so much for the lovely welcome TikTak and scottsblue!
I will do my best to keep this updated daily,I really think it'll help me.It's also really good to think during the day 'ah,eating that cake is another thing to write in the diary!' hehe.

I thought i'd update what i've eaten so far today, and what I plan to have for dinner (which isn't looking good!)

Breakfast

-Porridge (Quakers Paw-Ridge-so cute, and probably for kids!) 96 cals
A half hour walk to work at a pretty quick pace.

Two bourbon creams (tut tut!but so good!) 140 cals

Lunch

- Two rice cakes 64 cals
-Light Cuppa soup 60 cals
-Fruit and Fibre no milk 50cals
-Cereal bar -112 cals

(I love to eat lots, but 'lighter' things to fill me up until dinner time!)

For dinner I had planned some chunky veg soup, but I'm meeting up with a friend after work and I think the plan is takeaway!Now-I feel bad for knowing this in advanced as I could definately buy something much healthier, but I don't want to be rude as she's a new friend of mine (not at all on a diet!).Maybe I'll get a small pizza and only eat half...give the rest to my flatmate!?hmmm plans, plans!

Ah well! More updates very soon :D

Yay! Glad you started a diary!

I know what you mean about writing things down! When I first started, i would leave out things because I was embarrassed that I ate it when i was trying to be healthy...but then i realized that doing that is only hurting me! Now I write down everything- and I actually find that it makes me eat healthier because I'm accountable for my choices :)

It's great that you're taking up jogging! Running is a great source of cardio!! :)

I know what you mean about hurting your friends when you go out! My family and friends love to go out- and they always say, "oh just treat yourself" ...and I feel bad, so I do...but you shouldn't! If you want to make a healthier choice- do so! If you really want to eat something unhealthy, maybe only eat half! That way you're eating what you want, but in moderation :)

You're doing great! I have found my diary a really key piece in my current weight loss!! I hope we can help you too :)

Ahhh thank you so much Tik! :D And for showing me where it was on here and such,I'm really excited to update it and track my process!
I have such a boring job (i'm on placement at the moment-it's such a quiet store and I really don't do anything-I don't even get paid!) and it's great to have a read through peoplea blogs on here during the day (including yours actually! It's so detailed ah I will be a regular reader!:D) for inspiration. I also just bought a skipping rope!So when that arrives I'll incorpurate that into my daily routine!

Aw,it's nice you also understand where i'm coming from with friends and meals out!I didn't realise how much more food you eat out socially, but I do love the company and doing it to-it's always so tastey!hehe.I may have to get some pizza tonight, but just have half or maybe not even that-so i'm not being awkward with chums but at the same time not going too crazy!Nice advise ;D

I may get myself one of those ticker things to,to measure how much weight you've lost!

Hey welcome to the forum! I'm currently around 147 myself and looking to get to 135. I only have three weeks left till my honeymoon and then I anticipate gaining 10 pounds back so when I come back I'll be back at it again!
Looks like you have a great plan of action! Keep it up!!

Hey! Welcome aboard! :)

So you're aiming for a 12lb loss? That's totallyyyy feasible and you'll be at 135lbs in no time!

"so you can see what you can afford to cut out and be without" Exactly. That's the exact benefit of writing everything down. Jill nailed it with that it holds you accountable. You know exactly what you're consuming and from there you can make decisions on how to improve whether it's completely cutting out something, cutting down, or finding healthy substitutes.

Don't be afraid to go out with friends! You just have to make healthy choices when you go out. Or if you really do want something, just eat a small portion and take the rest for your flatmate or for leftovers for the next day! If there's something you really enjoy, never completely cut it out of your diet. The key is moderation.

You'll love running! It's hard at first but oh so rewarding. You feel amazing as the days go by and you can continuously run for a few more minutes every single day. When I first started running it used to take me like 20 minutes to "run" a mile. I got it down to 7-minutes. Then I quit running so right now I'm around 10 minutes but it's a challenge and challenges are fun!

Also I saw jumprope in one of your posts. Best workout EVER!!!! Jill (Tik) and I are having a challenge to see how can jumprope the longest. You should join us!!!

Good luck on this new lifestyle. You won't regret it :)

Hey chubbygirl, thank you so much your positive-ness!Oh my goodness-that really is so exciting about your honeymoon-what a brilliant target to lose weight for!I wish you all the best with it to,how are you finding it so far?Are you cutting down particular foods or exercising more,or both? :D

Welcome to the forum!

Hey sunflower!thank you so much for the warm welcome!I look forward to seeing you around the site! :D

Hello gohomejes! Thank you so much for your lovely reply, that's so great to hear about what running has done for you!My word-a mile run in 7 mins seems like just a dream at the moment!hehe I look forward to getting better at it,it's always been one of those things i've tried in the past and yet never stuck it out.I just tried it and thought 'ah i'm bad at this!' and gave up!This site is helping me keep to it! (even when it's raining outside!)

Aw,that's so encouraging to here that it's a goal I can achieve,I've never really properly tried to lose weight before and to be honest,I didn't really think I could do it-or that my body would let me do it!...if that makes sense haha. But I shall indeed keep up the jogging and I would LOVE to join you both in your lil jumprope challenge! That sounds like so much fun! I ordered some off trusty ebay today (seriously, thats all I do these days at work!!) and they should be arriving in a couple of days and I'll be right with ya both!
:D It'll be some more exercise to note in ye olde diary! What's your best time so far/tactic?

Well what a nice day it has been getting to know some lovely people on here!this is my final update today (as i've posted a fair bit already on day one of the diary!which is brilliant!) I've already learnt a lot,and am intrigued to start eating more vegan food-I think I could do it,although cheese is my only downfall really!

I've just got back from seeing my friend and had a lovely evening.I did end up having takeaway though, which,I felt disappointed at myself for as it's day one of this diary and I'm reporting naughty foods already!

-Vegie burger with salad and no mayo,a small portion of chips (although I did leave a lot of them!) which probably came to about or slightly more than 400 cals which is bad, but, not something i'm going to eat often.I guess it was a sort of occasion!

I also had an apple to follow.

All in all,a not so great day to kick start with! But it's been fun and i've got some skipping rope to look forward to receiving any day now.hmmm I wonder if i'll get up tomorrow for a jog before work....hmmm!Lets hope so!

Well,I didn't wake up in time for a jog.In fact I completely overslept right through my alarm!(oh dearrrr) haha.Still managed to have breakfast though, which is always good.I definately need all my meals,if I ever miss breakfast-nobody cross my path!I just get so irritable and tired out!

Breakfast today;

Porridge- 97 cals.

Snack- rice cake 35 cals.

For lunch I plan to have;

Slim a soup vegetable 60 cals.
Two Rivata dark rye 60 cals.
30g fruit and fibre no milk 80cals (at a guess,)

Mid afternoon snack- options hot chocolate mind madness 39 cals.

I love bringing in my own lunch,I always used to buy it-and buying food when you're hungry is terrible!Eyes bigger than your stomache, lots of crisps and chocolate. So I'm cutting out pretty much all of that now,and saving money to which is always a bonus!

When I get home form work I plan to go for a jog,and really push myself and see how long I can last for.I haven't really found a good route yet,I live in a pretty rubbish area surrounded by houses, although it can be quiet hilly and steap at times, therefore challenging! So i'll report back on that.

For dinner my boyfriend is coming over,who,is usually a bit of a bad influence on me!We usually end up going to the shops and buying snacks for films-but that won't be happening this time!oh nos! :D I hope to make pasta;

-Wholewheat pasta with homemade tomato sauce with peppers and onions.(no cheese) Which will probably come to about 300 cals.

-two scoops of strawberry and rasberry sorbet 80 cals (at a guess at the moment!)

I also plan to do a weigh in as well.Make a note every few days how it's all going.I finally bought some weighing scales to do this with.I used to have some at home, but gave them to my mum instead. So,I thought ebay would be the way to go.NEVER AGAIN haha!So I unwrapped them, got on them to look down in horror to see I had somehow gained 3 stone!!!At closer inspection however,I realise the dial wasn't straight-instead of '0' it was on '3'! haha so,thats obviously why they wanted to sell them cheap!Every time I weigh myself,I'll deduct 3 stone!haha.

I say i'll never go back on ebay, but I always do!

This afternoon I had a low fat yoghurt which was about 50 cals and a bourbon cream which was about 70!(but great!) I just love biscuits,it's just so hard to stop at one!

I'm planning to cook pasta very soon with aubergine, onion and peppers.Perhaps a bit of garlic in there to!I reckon that'll come to my planned 300cals,which gives me lots of room for sorbet dessert!

I didn't do any jogging today,as my skipping rope arrived when I got home!So I gave that a go-STRUTH that is hard work!!My goodness me,I don't think I'll ever jog again!haha.I found I couldn't go for very long, probably a couple of mins and then had to stop. But in those pausing moments I did some sit ups-which is a most unpleasant exercise.
I really wish I was a more enthusiastic about exercise but I'm just not.I love how I feel afterwards and I like knowing i'm pushing my body and trying to get fitter, but it's really hard work and a lot of effort. However,I did enjoy skipping as I could do it indoors! I don't have a back garden, and I didn't fancy doing it in the street!(some weird looks I reckon-although I already get many when I jog!).
I'm looking forward to a nice chilled out evening as i've had a pretty uneventful yet poor week at work.I think it stresses me out, which effects me in two ways-I eat a hell of a lot,or,not nearly enough.I hope to be somewhere inbetween, but it can change very quickly.I suppose I need to be happy at work so I'll generally feel a lot happier in myself. But it's not as easy as that.I know what would make me happy is leaving, and I don't yet have another placement lined up.
Anyway!That's off topic haha.
Lets hope I don't get snacky-happy in the evening later.
Hopefully tomorrow will be a good day!

Hey!!!

Great work on the exercise!!! I'm happy that your skipping rope arrived today - isn't it tough!! But it's such great cardio for you! I prefer it over running!! A LOT more over running LOL

I think you did good on the eating out. I would say that's not that bad of a calorie score for an entire meal! And you did great on limiting the chips and such :) Awesome work!!

I'm so much like you! I can't start my day without eating something...i use to never eat in the morning, and now that I've started- omg...get outta my way if I don't eat! I'm a crank pot LOL ... I also like bringing my lunch. If I don't, I eat junk - and it's expensive junk!! With just a little planning and work the night ahead, I can enjoy a healthy and yummy lunch!!! :) And I normally get to eat more, and a variety of things:)

Hope you had a great night!!! And congrats again on the fantastic exercise!!!!

Aww Tik thank you so much for your support!GOOD GOD skipping is both hilarious and intense! It reminds me of when I was a child, but somehow then I could skip for hours!hmmm I doubt I could ever reach an hour!Well,it's not really a very fair target.

Well.
I have decided that Thursday will be my 'cheat' days where I have a lil bit more of the things I fancy, but not exceeding my calorie limit.I'm not actually too sure what my limit is,it does depend on my mood becuase sometimes I just get days where I'm so damn hungry and NEED to have something wholesome (but not fatty.) I went to my boyfriends last night and we had tomato pasta, some bread (I love bread and I haven't had it in ages!) and chocolate ice cream (hell yeah!!) Using a little spoon, filled me up faster and slowed me down!( I let joe eat the rest haha!) so it was kinda bad,but not all bad,so I don't feel so bad :D but I'm not even going to count what was in all of that!

We walked into town this morning which was a good 40 min walk, and I walked home to so probably totalling an hours walking.I love to walk,I just love to clear my head,it puts me in such a good mood for the day.I'm contemplating having a bit of lunch now and a bit of skipping later, followed by some artwork and intense tidying! My mum's coming up to visit me and I'm just so excited to see her!!But it's the first time she's seen my place so,it needs to be in fine order.
It's far from it!
So,how many calories does mega hoovering burn!? :D haha.
It'll be nice to see her, although I reckon we'll eat out a couple of times (yay!) but also nay, because I'm likely to order something that's bad!She won't at all approve of my weightloss/fitness regime so I'll probably keep that on the down low.(She doesn't think I need to lose any weight and will think I'll be too drastic.) We'll probably go on a couple of long walks to,so i'll get in as much exercise as I can there.

My current weigh in is-65kg,which is about 143lbs. I would be overjoyed but I'm not entirely sure those bloomin scales are accurate! But the main thing is they haven't gone up-and that I am pleased about.
I am expecting my weight to creep up in a week or so,it always does when it's my time of the month (sorry lads!) but I mean incredibly so,like 5lbs!It's really annoying. But it does always seem to go again, but it's always a pretty horrible week!but there we go.Possibly a bit too much information for you there, and i'm sorry about that!haha I just wondered if anyone else does to!

Food today;
Breakfast-
Porridge and bit of jam 110 cals.
Snack-
Crunchy nut (no milk) 170cals.
Lunch-
Slim a soup lentil 65 cals.
2 X rivita dark rye 62 cals.
Weight watchers yogurt 50 cals.

Brings me up to about 480 cals for the day so far.So a nice filling dinner in the evening which I plan to be;

Wholewheat noodles 150 cals
Stirfry veg 90 cals (I like to pile my veg high!)
dash of soy sauce 15cals.

Nice! :D

Well dinner went according to plan and was pretty nice actually.I've been low on money recently and have found freezer veg rather useful for adding to pretty much anything I make.It keeps for so long to,so I don't waste anything.Sometimes it can taste a tiny bit bland though hmmm.Shopping tomorrow morning perhaps!
I actually find shopping therapeutic,as silly as it sounds I rather enjoy wandering up and down the isles, not only getting a weeks worth of food on a low budget, but healthy food at that!

Skipping didn't go so well today,i've actually been pretty lucky all week that I haven't much ached, but today I found it very hard and could only master about 5 mins, which is pretty bad.I did 15 sit ups to round off, which i'll try and do every day.But I did do a fair bit of walking this morning,so I suppose it evens out ok.

My dessert tonight was 2 digestives and a fruit shortbread biscuit, all of which must have come to about 160 cals.(they were all pretty small, came in this 'teatime' pack-which i'm surprisingly make last a fair while.) Maybe I should be more exact with my counting?I suppose I know i'm not exceeding 1,500 cals a day so that's ok.If I go under that's just a bonus :D
I'm currently enjoying a Options hot chocolate Turkish Delight which is simply amazing and my favourite out of them all! and suggest them to all,for only 39 cals a cup :D Yes pleassse! I don't plan to have anything else tonight,I'm going to get going on some art work and watch Come dine with me,which has to be one of my favourite programs at the moment!haha! I know how to enjoy myself, nobody can argue with that!

Happy weekends one and all :)

Hey girl! Just dropping by to see how you're doing.

I'm so glad you've enjoyed the skipping bandwagon! Isn't it just a huge challenge?! I loveeee challenges! I'm glad you're doing an exercise that you enjoy instead of forcing yourself to do something you don't. I think the "love" for exercise will come with time. As you see yourself dropping the weight, you'll want to do more and more. It becomes addicting. =P

Have you thought about using an online calorie tracker so you know how many calories you're consuming? I know you mentioned if you go lower is a bonus. Be careful about that. From my experience, it's actually not a bonus. If you fall below your required calorie intake continuously your body goes into starvation mode and actually slows your metabolism down.

I know some days it's really hard to hit the 1500 when you're busy but really try to aim for that. I know the other day I was at ~1100 for the day because all day I spent running around with my head chopped off.

But yeah, try using a tracker. After a while you'll just remember how many are in what you eat and you can keep a mental list in my head. I usually input everything I'm going to eat for the day before I head out. That way: 1.) I meal plan and plan healthy things 2.) I don't eat out 3.) I know I'll stay within my calorie intake and also hit my calorie intake goal. At the end of the day I'll make any adjustments if needed like if I ate anything extra or didn't end up eating something I wrote down.

It's crazy because I feel like I'm eating every 2 hours and I usually am. It's not like a HUGE meal but just something around ~150-200 calories. It really works out because I eat before my hunger hits. When you eat when you're hungry, I usually always end up eating more.

Alright girl, I have to head to the gym. Just wanted to say HI! :) I hope you have an amazing weekend!!! Keep up the awesome work!

Hey chica! Sounds like you had a lovely evening with your bf!! :) And I know what you're talking about with the bread! There's nothing like a nice piece of toast with some butter on it! YUM!!! hehehehe

You're doing a great job! And don't worry about the numbers on the scale! You'll notice other things that let you know you're toning up and losing weight! Just you wait! I bet you'll be surprised what happens when you get on the scale after a week of healthy eating and skipping (which I STILL hate hehehehehe)

Happy weekend hun!!! :)

Hey there!!!

Hope you had a great weekend! And I can't wait to hear how your skipping is going!!!

Happy monday!! :)

Well I had an absolutely amazing weekend!I didn't realise how much I missed my mum until I saw her!Although it was much fun,it was overall a bad weekend food-wise.Mum noticed I had lost weight and decided to feed me massive portions of pasta, and sandwiches (both of which I don't eat much of!) but instead of worrying about it,I enjoyed it.I'm starting this week afresh with my normal diet,I know that weekend won't happen again in a long time so it's not going to make a huge difference.(I hope!)
I'll just do more skipping!!
Ah yes girlies-that's happening tonight when I get back in from this HORRIBLE day at work.Urgh.I don't like it here at all.Skipping not only helps with the exercising, but with frustrations to!I'll update later after i've done some, hopefully more than 5 mins! That's what i'm aiming for.And 20 sit ups :) I'll also weigh myself to,see if the weekend was a bad as I thought!
The thing is,my mum and stepdad are keen walkers! So eventhough I ate a fair bit,I did walk a lot of it off which was good and I enjoyed.I won't count it all up though-lets just say it wasn't great!haha.

Today however I have eaten-
Breakfast;
Porridge (97 cals.)

Slim a soup (60 cals)
Rivita x 2 (66 cals)
weightwatchers yogurt (47 cals)
Snacka jack caramel (50 cals)

I plan to do sit ups and skipping when I get in!!
