Flight Attendant Brandi

Being a flight attendant is so hard when it comes to losing weight and keeping it off. The easiest part of my job is GAINING the weight! lol Probably why I gained twenty pounds in six months so easily.

When you work odd hours, live on an airplane or hotel and the only food thrown in your face is airport fast food you tend to go ahead and chow down. I am putting a stop to that, and with the help of my doctor I'm making choices for myself and just want and NEED a support group where I can help and receive help in return.

I'm working out daily, a minimum of walking for an hour. Having a small breakfast (oatmeal - easy to make in hotel room), a rice cake or two for a snack in the afternoon, and whatever meal I can manage to grab at night (even if it's the dreaded fast food - but minimum), and strictly drinking water. Though this past week I slipped up and had a few drinks with my crew (bahumbug). I'm also trying diet pills for the first time (slimquick).

Since starting Friday I've lost four pounds! I can't say how happy I am and don't expect to keep dropping five pounds a week (I'd be satisfied with a pound a week). I'm very excited to grab a hold back on my life and weasel my way down to a size ten (roughly 150 pounds) again.

I can't wait to get to know everyone and I PROMISE never to have an "entry" this long again.

Brandi

First, this is YOUR diary - your entries can be as long as you want them to be, and second, when you're typing it always seems longer then they really are ;)

Brandi,
Welcome to the WLF and to your diary!
My (size 4) friend is a flight attendent and has been one for years, and she was just telling me how hard it is to maintain her weight (and it's be inching up). She's a vegetarian, and says that food is just always an issue.

You've definitely got it tough - but you CAN do it!
Good for you for getting started and I look forward to following your journey as you reach your goals!

If "a few drinks" can negatively affect your weight, they must be some pretty spectacular drinks!

As much as I hate to say it, if your are going to drink, have mixed drinks, and have them made without juice, sugarys soda, or thick and delicious sweetened alcohols; just stick with rum and diet coke, whiskey and diet coke, scotch and water, or other similar drinks. Watch out for tonic water, it is a sugary substance, but some places have several different diet drinks available as mixers.
Just remember, you aren't changing your whole life and lifestyle, just your food intake. And your post wasn't very long, no worries there.

Thank you both so much for the kind words.

I do not normaly drink any alcoholic beverages at all, so I think I was feeling more guilty over that fact. All I really had was a few appletinis but I do not want to drink again. I'm back to my water.

I've actually noticed that water makes me feel better, I feel like I have more energy when I'm strickly drinking that.

I don't drink hardly ever when I am out and about; I drink a lot of water and diet sodas when I hit the bars. I CAN drink, I CHOOSE not to, lol. There's nothing wrong with it, and if someone buys a round of shots to celebrate something, I won't snub them, but for the most part I just don't drink.
There is nothing wrong with that, but make sure to watch your glass, even with friends, and if you can get one with a lid, do so (a safety tip, not a weight loss tip).
Remember that club soda or seltzer water can be flavored with a splash of juice, and is not bad for you, but will replenish your electrolytes if you work up a sweat on the dance floor, too. Most clubs will serve it to you for free, or only a soft drink price.

Have fun!

Hey everyone!

So being back on the road wasn't as easy on the diet as I thought it would be. I don't have much to complain about though, since I've lost nine pounds this month so far. I haven't kept up with drinking my water like I planned (and wanted) to. I will get back on the bandwagon!

At the end of the month I am taking my Mom on a cruise for a few days so I'm worried about the whole eating thing. I don't want to gain any weight but I know "everyone" does. I just hope I can hold up.

I hope you all are well.

Brandi : )

On the cruise, remember to eat a snack before your meals, that way you aren't tempted by the "Giant slab o' Prime Rib" or the "Mountain of Moon Pie" or whatever else you see. And if you are still hungry after your first platefull of food, hit the salad bar. For salad, that is, not the dessert section!
