Hi all!

Active reader, first time poster!

Looking for a few opinions on my regime if willing?

Background:

Basically I try to stay in decent shape. Always had a few extra pounds over recommended weight (quite like them tbh) however due to a recent 3.5 weeks revision course and subsequent comfort eating binge with no exercise (revision taking priority) have put on a fair bit (damn Gregg's and there £1.99 tea and bacon butty deals!)

I am an accountant in training, hence not the most active amount of calories burn't in any given day.

I have finished my training for now (exam results in July) and have set all my focus on losing this extra weight down in line with recommended (lower) BMI.

Regime:

I have never worked out my calories a day, personally see it as a step too far and a bit creepy. Typical eating in a day could be:

1. Banana for breakfast
2. Sandwich (usually ham salad) and low fat yogurt for lunch
3. Some meat, boiled potatoe's and few veg (not my favourite) for tea

I work out every night with cardio. This is an exercise bike with whatever's good on TV. Is a bugger to get back into but at current I burn ~200 calories (=22 minutes cycling). I increase this rate at 1 minute a day. Otherwise I alternate muscle building every other day to allow muscle to repair & grow (aiming to increase BMR).

Current Weight & Hopes:

Last Sunday I weighed 10 stone 6 pounds. Tomorrow I hope to way 10 stone 3 pounds. I aiming to loose 3 pounds a week however I will gladly not achieve this if muscle is gained instead. The aim of the game is to become 'STREAMLINED' again.

Best of luck to all you other slimmers and thanks for any advice,
Coeus.

P.S. Forgot to add essentials:
Sex: Male
Age: 22
Current BMI: 23.6

Hi! and welcome to the forum. I think your food intake looks pretty good overall. The big change i recommend is a larger breakfast. Many people find it keeps them from overeating later in the day. For lunch, do you have your sandwich on whole grain bread? That is another easy change you could make. The extra fiber will keep you feeling fuller.

I am in the US, so not sure on stones to pounds, but is that 146 pounds you weigh now? It doesn't sound too bad.

Thanks for the reply Want2Lose. Yeah it's 146.6 pounds originally - 3.2 pounds (one week) to last Sunday (net 143.4 pounds). Hoping I can keep that sort of loss a week (as long as it's fat).

I know 146.6 pounds isn't much to complain about, but I wan't to get to my former state. Missing all the nice shirt's I had and tight jeans to show off my bum :) Plus I carry my weight on my chest which I hate immensely!

I'm going to up my breakfast intake then. My bread is always wholemeal (so much tastier!). Otherwise am up to 25 minutes hard pedal and 5 minutes warm down on bike (not including calories burn't from muscle building) =~ 230 calories and increasing a night!

Hope all your slimmers are doing well!
Coeus.

"I have never worked out my calories a day, personally see it as a step too far and a bit creepy."

I used to think that too. I never wanted to be one of those "calorie counting people" lol. Until I found my weight not dropping as fast I wanted about a month into my weight loss program, and then I actually tried it. I started writing down everything I ate along with the calories and I figured out I was eating more calories than I thought I was. It really helped me to work out how much I could eat every day and still lose weight. But what works for one person won't necessarily work for another person. We all have to find what works for each of us. :)

Anyway, I wanted to welcome you to the forum! I hope you find it as helpful as I have! :D

Three pounds a week is a lot for someone your size, actually I think it is unrealistic. If you have lost that much in the first week, chances are a lot of it is water weight. In the first phase of a diet, you burn the glycogen that is stored in your muscles and liver. Water is bound with the glycogen and is released when the glycogen is used up.

Since you only have a few pounds to lose, 1 pound per week would get you there plenty fast enough.

You should not expect to gain muscle while losing fat. Sometimes, people who are obese can do that, but you are not obese. You will have to do it by alternating periods of dieting and gaining.

Thanks for the replies!

I will calorie count on a typical day Stacey to give everyone an idea of what I'm munching through. Tonight is not one of them I'm afraid. Sister just finished her A-Level exams so restaurant meal out! Too full and tired to cycle too lol. Will make up for it tomorrow.

Yeah I did think 3.2 pounds was quite high for the first week so have braced myself to do worse this Sunday Harold. As long as it's still going down I'll be happy. That said I'm not essentially looking to put on muscle, just tone what I already have if that makes sense :)
