It's been a while since I posted. But here is the story. I'm a current Firefighter who is looking to lose a lot of weight. I currently weight 235lbs and I'm 6ft tall, and I'd like to get to 190ish. I have moved around 3 times in the last 3 years and I am in a state where the outdoors is calling my name.
Now here is where the problem starts. I was in a couple of states where my wife made me miserable because we had to move out of her birth state for my jobs, I packed on a bunch of weight due to depression. I have 2 kids, and I'm the only one bringing in money. So lets just say that my issuses are enough to keep anyone awake at night. I was lucky enough to swap positions with another Firefighter in a different state to make it back to my wifes birth state, and here, I've been wanting to go out and do all kinds of outdoor activites, but my wife and kids seem like a big obsticle for me. My kids like to go out and play which is fine, but I don't always want to play kittens or kick a ball back and forth. I like to take my son out for bike rides, but I can't push him to go the same distance as I want to go. I feel bad for leaving my wife with the kids at home because I know how difficult the kids can be, especially when I'm on shift. So what should I do?
I also have been recouping from a back injury in which case I had a injection that was delivered to my spine. I feel better now. I just don't want to push myself to far until I get cleared from my doctor. Are there any Firefighters or others with a wierd work schedule out there that can clue me in as to how to balance out my family and fitness schedule.
We have a workout gym here at the station and thats not the problem. The problem is that I would like to get into hiking, trail riding, and running. Any help with this would be great. Thanks
