finger push ups

i've started finger push ups lately, and i haven't heard of many people trying em, but it's pretty much doing push ups without the support of your palms. But, i only go to 5 before i stop, and i was wondering if it's even worth it just going to 5? i do normal push ups and stuff as well, but i just switch it around a bit. So, anyone else do these?

...

personally, ive never heard of them, but i just tried them when i read this, and the only thing i felt is that its risking injuring your fingers. i doubt it effects anything moer than normal push-ups, and if it does, its probaly not worth it, just my opinion...

Yea I tried it as well what beinifit is there?

Maybe someone could go up to a girl and be like "hey baby check out my fingers they are so ripped"

And then the chick would be like OH MY GOD those are some ripped fingers" :p

guess it can give you strong fingers which can be good for people who need it. maybe some martial artists need strong fingers.

finger tip push ups strengthen the forearm muscles. used for developing stronger grips and strengthening the fingers ofcourse

As far as i know they are used by mountain climbers and martial artists for obvious reasons.
(remember the two finger pushup by Bruce lee)

as with any exercise your fingers too could get injured if you dont exercise caution.

its best to start off with knee pushups on fingers that too on a soft surface

As you get stronger at it you can do standard push ups on fingers even reduce the no of finger you balance on (that way too advanced though)

in my opinion you shouldnt be trying it unless your into some activity that places pressure on your fingers
as for grips there are far better exercises to look for :)

Benny is correct. We use them in the rock climbing community and many martial artists do.

Fingers don't have any muscles in them, only tendons. And, these tendons are EASY to injure. Carefully doing these, a finger injury can plague you for the rest of your life.

Push-ups

If you're looking for a harder push-up, work to put your hands and legs in different positions. For example, do push-ups with your legs on a balance ball (also works abs more). Do every-other push-up on a slightly raised area (like a couple books), moving up and down with every push-up (one hand at a time). Do push-ups with one arm raised (ex. one on a bosu). Do pushups on a turned-over bosu or balance ball (instability here will help train abs more). Do them on a decline bench. Do triangle (fingers form a triangle) tricep push-ups with fingers close together. Vary width of arms and feet. Lift a leg.

There are a million other ways to make push-ups harder that won't cause injury! :)

when doing finger pushups make sure that your fingers are in the right possition. You should have your hands in tigers paw, which is the shape you make when your holding a ball, or boobies!
Dont let your fingers bend back the wrong way otherwise your missing the point of the exercises.

start with your 4fingers and thumbs, then when you go to just fore fingers youll need to raise your wrist so your hands and arms are in line.
