Finally Need To Lose Weight

Hi everyone. My name is Chris from North Carolina. I'm 17 years old and have been fairly big all of my life. I'm 6'0 260 right now. I keep telling my self that I'm this big because I play football, and want to be strong. But I think that is scapegoat. You can be strong and still be fit. This is the heaviest I've ever weighed. My love life has crashed. I need to get back into shape. My goal right now is 225lbs by the end of October. Possible? I think so.
My main problem I believe is I love to eat. I've always loved to. And I eat alot. So controlling my eating is what I plan to do in order to combat my weight gain. Like I said I play football and start on both Defensive and Offensive Line. If any of you have the pleasure of experiencing high school football practice, you know its not easy. But even though I'm involved with that, I still can't manage to stop gaining weight.
I am very bottom heavy. I have huge thighs which I hate. I want to rid of them mainly but also tone the rest of my body.
I realized I needed to do something today after eating Mac and Cheese and drinking a Coke for lunch.
I'm tired of feeling like shit. I want to start feeling better, stop sweating all the time, and feel lighter.

Here is what I plan to do-

Fresh Fruit and wheat bread for Breakfest.
Nuts, Fruit, Yogurt, etc... for Snacks
Lean Meat, Eggs, Veggies and Whole Wheats for Lunch and Dinner

Continue with football, be more active when I'm not doing football. Play golf, swim and hike.

Why are you playing football? Do you have ambitions of playing in college. If so you probably should be doing weight training to build muscle. It will be hard to get recruited as a lineman at less than your current weight.

I played middle linebacker at 190 but that was years ago. I got recruited by West Point and a few small colleges but I torn up my knee my senior year and never played again. I wish I had never played football.

I play football because I love to. I do weight lift. It is a integral part of football nowadays. I bench press 280lbs, power clean 275lbs, and parallel squat 450lbs.
I'm don't plan to play in college. I do throw shot put as well.
I consider myself decent, but I owe it to my team because they helped me get to where I am. I don't know how out of shape I would be without football. If I get to my goal weight, I'll probably play out wide at Defensive-End.
