Finally losing some weight

You have not mentioned anything about your initial weight, length, age,... All these information is crucial to measure what is the appropriate amount of weight to lose.

Five pounds of weight loss in one week is too much. Unfortunately this kind of severe weight loss is short lived. Most experts recommend losing a maximum of 2 pounds in a week.

If you are cutting your calories intake severely then this might back fire in the long term. Your short term weight loss might be tempting but soon your weight loss will slow down and you will start gaining weight again.

If you want long term results then aim to create not more than 500 calorie deficit a day (3500 a week). You can do this by decreasing your calories consumed or increasing your physical activity, or both. This will make you lose one pound of fat a week. It is slow but it works all the time. The results are for the long term.
