Filling foods, little calories?

if anyone has anything to add to this list feel free. i personally find frozen bags of veggies very filling. yes i have been known to eat a half a bag for an entire meal! but at 25 calories a serving, how can you pass up such a deal? also egg whites are very filling for me. i actually cooked 6 large eggs once and made the mistake of eating all the egg whites (17 calories x 6) and then of course felt very ill. but i was hungry and very full for several hours on only 102 calories. so obviously your not going to have 6, but a snack of 2 or 3 large egg whites should do you just fine!

I'm confused about the frozen veggies, do you eat them frozen or steam them or what?

no silly! i buy them frozen and then put about an inch of water in the pot, boil it, then throw veggies in and simmer for about 10 minutes with lid on. then drain...so they are kinda steamed.

I totally agree with you on the frozen veggies, WW! I lovvvveee them, could eat quite a lot of them, especially since I don't know how to cook... spose thats something I should learn, eh? :)

I love veggies so much! It's best to steam them or use as little water as possible so you don't lose all the nutrients. I find that when I eat carrots, they make me feel hungrier though. Any suggestions on where I can get beta kerotene from if I'm not eating carrots? When you say you eat egg whites, do you buy buy regular eggs or buy the cartons of egg whites from the store?

I buy large eggs and just ditch the yoke - or else use them for food for my pup, because he eats real food not doggie crap. :)

I have a wee trick in regards to that, I was told the very same thing by someone else not long ago. Now what I do is drain the water into a seperate cup and make gravy with it using some gravy granuals. Not sure if you know what I mean but we get them to thicken home made sauces etc (and make gravy obviously). Anyway they come to about 40cal per 100ml serving so say you used about 50ml that's and extra 20cal but it means you don't loose any nutrients from the veggies and you get a sauce of sorts to go with them.:)

fresh raw veggies.

beans. Baked beans are great and healthy and low in fat.

I also like to make chickpea sandwiches with mustard. Very good. and very filling.

what if you don't like veggies? o.o

I love watermelon.... but its an expencive habit to keep up. o.o I can honestly eat 1/2 a watermelon in one sitting! At approx $6 a watermelon... I guess its not bad.. but 1 watermelon is gone in 2 days. lol

I spend alot more than that on fresh and frozen broccoli, asparagus, etc

Cheap, tasty, and low cal
1 package of sugar free jello (I used raspberry)
1/2 bag frozen fruit (I used raspberries)

make the jello with 1 cup of boiling water and 3/4 cup of cold water, then dump in the raspberries... or your fruit of choice... Put in fridge and wait.

there's about 140 calories total in 4 servings... and even i can't eat 4 servings at once....
