Fight Against Child Obesity!

RAARGH!!!

Why are there so many overweight children these days? You hear it on TV, you see it in the paper, but nothing is being done about it! More and more people are complaining about how obese or overweight the children are these days, and I find this sick!

Why do you think we're overweight? Because we're too lazy to get off our arse, or to stop eating at fast food places... well guess what, we're children, it's our parents that take us there!

-----------

Yeah, that's my five cents worth, and now I'm going to give all of my efforts out to those overweight children, and show them that it isn't hard to loose weight, no matter how big you are, you can do it!

In my quest to loose weight, I am hoping to inspire many people to try it themselves, as if I can do it all by myself with a simple treadmill and bike, then I am sure that you can too! Join me as I make this journal, which will be updated daily (when possible).

It's time to show the adults that children are not lazy, and that a gameboy or computer can't terrorise our lives.

Days 1 - 4

The last few days were the hardest few days of my life. Without all of that sweet chocolate biscuits, all of the pringles and poppa jacks, my life is terror. But I can overcome this, and I have. I find that when you take the first step by attempting to loose weight, you need to be ready, it's like jumping onto a moving car, you've got to be ready, or you won't jump towards the car, you'll jump towards Mc Donalds!

I acomplished many things these last few days, by joing these forums I have been motivated to the full, I have done all that has been suggested, and it seems to be working. The biggest two acomplishments in the last few days is refusing to eat chocolate AND Mc Donalds, when I WAS hungry. I felt so good inside when I sat down to eat my subway lunch, far less fat, and by golly it tasted nice!

I also just went out on my push bike, nothing fancy, and rode the complete bike lane across the motorway, taking about an hour and a half to cover about 10 km total (there and back). Always remember to wear sunblock, and definately the water!

-----------

Just a small tip though, I used to lie to the people around me that I did certain things, like riding a bike backwards down a street, or running 5km, well, they may think that your good, but how will you feel inside? Not very good will you? Be honest about the things that you actually do, by doing this you will be rewarded by praises of acomplishment, and you will be egged on to do it again!

Good luck,

Steven

Thanks Steven. U r one good kid.

I can still remember when I was in primary sch (9 years old) and was forced to join the Trim And Fit (TAF) Club. This Club was a project initiated by my sch in the 80's to fight obesity and undernourishment. Kids who are over/underweight are put into this Club to improve their health. Overweight students have to meet every Mon, Wed n Fri morning/afternoon for extra exercises. Underweight children are taught to eat proper meals and given extra packets of chocolate milk for free. We also have to visit the Ministry of Health clinic for obese children every 6 mths. I pissed off the doctor by not going for appointments and he struck me off the list with disgust.:p

Wish I had more self-control n discipline when I was younger. And yeah.... my parents dun control what I eat too. :p

Now is the time to make a difference!:D

Its because parents dont realize what they are feeding their kids.
My children go to school with children who take to school a lunch box full of

Fruit Twists
Biscuit bags
musili bars
chippies
Various other supposedly 'healthy' items which are layered with sugar fat and chocolate.
One parent i know has an overweight daughter who shes trying to slim down ... do you know what she feeds her?
Well lets just say i was flabbergasted to see her giving her coke over diet coke 'because diet coke has stuff that will give you cancer' (which it does not, and no it doesnt have anything toxic unless you drank 375cans within a 1 hour period).
She then fed her daughter a 'healthy' meal including fatty sausages and coleslaw smothered in mayo.

I think it's relevant, and would never have seen it without Wishes ressurecting it from the dead!
I agree about the parents, mine taught me to eat everything on my plate, and forced me to do it. My dad explained recently, that the idea was that I would learn to take less food, and then I would learn to eat healthier. *sigh*
Thanks, dad...
