Fibro Myalgia and Fitness

I was wondering if anyone here deals with Fibro Myalgia. What do you do to ease the pain as you exercise? After a lot of research I found that FM patients should only exercise 5 minutes a day...THAT'S NOT ENOUGH FOR ME! I'm trying to get toned, but the pain from FM is a little too much to handle. Example: when I'm doing crunches I can only do like 15 because my arms hurt so bad. Any advice? Thanks.

I work with FM patients. Unfortunately there is no pattern (at least none that I have found). Some of my clients can work out like anyone else. Some of them can do 10 minutes for 1 day, 20 minutes the next and then nothing for a week.

The most important thing is to do what YOU can when YOU can. Fitness has been shown to greatly reduce FM symptoms so you should feel great about all of your research.

One caveat... I don't know if I would do plain 'ol crunches. Do you have a stability ball or something? They support you a bit more.

My mother has FM and her lifeline is taking supplements and vitamins that are in deficit when you have FM. I would recommend looking at what the deficits are in your body and trying to replace them with supplements...good ones, not cheap stuff. I know you will still be tired during and after a workout, but replacing what you are now missing in yout body will help with your energy levels...my mother swears by them. If she misses a day, the next day is terrible for her. Good luck to you! I think she has the Ultimate Nutrition Bible or something like that and she has done a lot of research as to what her body needs.
