Feeling sick during work out. why?

Hey all. I just got back into the gym and I am feeing discouraged. I have bee feeling sick and light heded during workouts. Not even able to finish some of the time. Let me just say that I am taking it slow too. My upper body day is just butterfly, military ress, curls, tricept pull down, and I recently tried to add lat pull downs. I only do 2 sets of 10 and on the 10th rep I am not even at failure. I want to get back to doing 3 full sets of 10 of each but am finding it so hard to get there.

A little history. I do have issues with anxiety and panic. My GF recently had my first child 7 months ago and my stress levels have been high. I went from 175 pounds down to 142 without trying (just stress loss) Not good. I am going to the gym to try to be healthy but am feeling like it is making me feel worse than before. I have also been waking up with ummm bowel problems everymorning and don't even know if my pre work out meal is sticking with me. Doctors just say stress and write me off. Anyone have any ideas to get my body used to working out again? I do not want to quit.

Thanks all.

On a side note I do have these pills that are like valiums I cna take as needed but don't think going in to the gym drugged is the thing to do and I have coped almost 3 years now without taking a single pill and enjoy that. :)

ok it could be your diet that is doing it. When you are stressed out your body depletes its nutrients quickly. There alot of factors that could play in. What is your blood pressure like. How do you normally destress? Hmmm I would have to figure out what it is thats going on to really answer that. So if you are up for a whole bunch of questions let me know.

Yeah Jenn Im down. Well I was planning on going to the gym to destress :) My blood pressure has always been fine even at my most stressed bad feeling times. My blood sugar also stays fairly stable. I have had every test known to man so I think it s stress/ nutrient related. I have been looking for a good liquid vitamin that will not upset my stomach. I also have yet to start any whey protien which I know I need. My diet is ood as far as no fast food and garbage like that. I try to eat walnuts, natura peanu butter, whole wheat bread, tons of ground beef, pasta, spinach, carrots, potatoes. That is my main diet right there. Let the questions Roll Jenn :)

ok I'll pm you a list after I go pick up my kids
shouldn't take me too long
I think its related to orthostatic hypotension. google that if you'd like to see what it is. talk to you soon. Btw where do you live??

I have expierienced this manyyyyyyyyyyy times and i know just what your talking about. Not sick but weak and u feel like you HAVE to rest right there and its hard to get back up the stairs.

If what i said corresponds with your problem, its with what your eating. Either not enough carbs or protein the day before, you had something bad to eat before you worked out, or you had something bad for breakfast. You dont have any energy. What i started doing is resting before working out and eating a balance bar about 2 hrs before work out, which gives me enough energy to make it through.

Thanks for the info everyone. I am trying to eat 2 hours before I work out now so I do not hav a full stomach when I work out. I go in today for a leg routine. I will let you all know how it goes.

could be too intense for the CNS in your currently stressed state

could be diet related, specifically blood sugar bottoming out.

It could also be something as simple as improper breathing, dehydration or not waiting long enough between sets. (sorry if those have been mentioned... just skimmed)
btw, 2 hours between preworkout meal might be too long. I would recommend an hour.
