Feeling Full (Not)

Hello! This is my first post. I will post all "about me" in Newcomers momentarily. I just need to sound off about this first.

I had a bowl of cereal for breakfast this morning. That was good, now what's for breakfast? I started eating at about 5:00am (EST) and finished at about 5:15, and I still felt hungry until around 6:45am!

Why is that? Why does it take 90 minutes to feel like there's food in my stomach? That's 90 minutes I could be eating to satisfy my hunger, if I were not mindful.

My husband doesn't have this problem. He's 6'2" and maintains a weight of 165 (that's SKINNY for a guy!). When my husband sits down to eat, he shovels the food in his mouth like there's no tomorrow. It takes a lot to fill him up, but there's no waiting to feel full. He'll just put his fork down and say, "I'm full" ten minutes after sitting down to a restaurant meal.

I usually don't "feel" the meal until well after we get home.

Why is that? Does it have to do wth the rate of digestion? Metabolism? Both? Something else?

It's so frustrating!

I've learned to eat slowly and to be mindful of portions, but it would be a lot easier if I FELT the food in my stomach sooner. I'm known for saying, "That was good, now what's for dinner?" because I don't feel like I've eaten anything at all for at least an hour.

Am I the only one?

What you are eating can contribute to that. Make sure everytime you eat, you are getting a good source of protein, also try to eat things higher in fiber, and drink lots of water - those will all help to contribute to not feeling as hungry.
