FBW or splits

I've always used splits. Like back and bi or chest and tri. But I've seen alot of people on here talking about full body workouts. I always just thought those were for beginners. What do you guys think? What's better?

I think the majority of people here will go with a FBW. I myself like a split, mainly because I do not recover very quickly. I still hit every major muscle group twice a week with a push/pull split and focus on compound movements over isolations.

Right now I lift 4 days a week. Back and chest on one day legs on another, shoulders, then arms. I do alot of supersets. I'm always looking to learn more so what makes fbw better? If you do fb how many days do you lift?

well, first of all, I'm not gonna argue that FBWs are better than push pull and upper lower split, I really like all of those. Body part splits may work very well if your main goal is size AND you have some experience. Another thing is that it has to be properly designed, big compound lifts and some isolation, not the other way around.

What is your experience? How long have you been lifting, what is your squat, dead and bench number? chinups, rows, etc?

so you have to determine if your level and goals fit the body part split.

your split is pretty "big" IE: you do back and chest one day, that's almost like the entire upper body. then legs, which is lower body, then shoulders then an arms day. I don't think you need an arms day with just arms unless you're very advanced. What I think is kind of weird is that you have two big days (back chest day and leg day) and two pretty small (shoulder day and arms day)

with an FBW you usually lift 3 days a week or every other day. You can do more (high frequency training) which can work awsome if you do it right and you have the experience to deal with it.

I do an upper/lower split and i like it a lot. I go to the gym monday tuesday wednesday and thursday. I'm pretty experienced when it comes to weight lifting, so nowadays i like to do only compound exercises and lift very heavy.

Personally i do a Split routine. I think either FBW or Split can be very effective as long as your doing the correct lifts and have it worked out properly!

Any structure should work so long as the intensity of training, motivation of trainee and diet are all good.

I have no real preference anymore with splits of FBW's (I used to prefer splits) but I'd still always recommend FBW's for newbs because it's a good way to learn the basics and drum in the pattern of including horizontal push/pull, vertical push/pull, hamstring and quads. Once they've got that they can learn how to spread them around the week and use different rep ranges and stuff

Sorry, rambling there, I don't think either is better or worse, it's just preference :)

I do full body. I have once tried a split (movements split) for one week to see how I feel with it. Of course the Monday workout goes good because its the first workout of the week; however, I was too tired to do Tuesdays workout due to soreness/fatique from the day before. If I would to try a split again, it would be internal rotation and external rotation seperete days instead of Internal Rotation two days in a row. Now-a-days, most of us do internal rotation work and not much external rotation work and rotator cuff work. Also, not enough scap depression and retraction as well.
