Fat Smash Diet Help

Hi I've been on Phase one of the fat smash diet now for 5 days and I've stayed with the program completely except that I didnt wait to weigh myself until day 9, I weighed myself today. Well, what a shock when I see that I gained 3 pounds (I weighed myself first thing in the morning)! I've only been eating foods from the program and have been working out every day (walking, stairs, crunches, sit ups) and I'm begining to think this diet is not for me. Though it has helped me learn to stay away from the fatty foods out there and bring a lot more veggies in to my diet. I'm not really sure I should stay on it if my body is reacting this way, especially since I was losing weight without being on it. Any help or thoughts?

Phase One: Detox
The nine-day first phase of the diet is a time when you eat primarily fruits and vegetables, to allow your body to cleanse itself of impurities and toxins. The focus on raw or lightly cooked (steamed or grilled) vegetables and fruits also allows your body to make use of the abundant vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients that are present in these most natural of foods. During this phase, you establish the habit of eating four to five small meals daily at three-hour intervals. While the menu for meals is rather limited, there is no restriction on how much you eat -- though overeating is discouraged. A 20- to 25-minute walk after dinner (or some other light exercise) is recommended, or 30 minutes of cardiovascular exercise five times per week..

Allowed Foods

  • all fruit
  • all vegetables except white potatoes and avocadoes
  • tofu
  • dried beans (e.g., chickpeas, lentils)
  • brown rice
  • oatmeal
  • limited skim or soy milk
  • herbs and spices
  • low-fat yogurt (no more than 12 oz. daily)
  • up to 4 egg whites daily
  • herbal tea
  • unlimited water

If you're going over your calories for the day, it really doesn't matter much what you're eating - you're taking in more than you are using... so have you estimated how many calories youo are eating in a day?

I am not a fan of fad diets, so you aren't going to get a lotof encouragement from me to stick with it - I would say you know what was working for you - watching your calories so go back to that.

I really wouldnt know what my calorie intake would be with this, I've mostly been eating vegetables and fruits and have not been stuffing myself full with anything in any sense of the word. It was my first try at one of these book diet programs but eh if it isnt working for me I should go back to what was. Thanks!

There's a lot of sugar in fruit and a fair bit in some vegetables. That's probably what caused the weight to go on.

It sounds like a crazy diet to me - not enough protein. And all this detox stuff is nonsense in my opinion. You have a liver and two kidneys whose full-time responsibility it is to detox your body. They don't need any special help from a diet.

I am a huge fan of weight loss shows, so when i saw this on fit club i thought yep, i need to get on that. I tried it out with the fruit and vegetables.. worked out alot.. and ... nothing!! I was at phase 2 when i quit. I LOVE fruit, so this was too good to be true!

You may want to try and find another diet that suits you. We are all different, and what works for someone may fail to work for someone else.

I just keep running into bad comments about this diet... it sounds like it belongs in the weight loss landfill next to all the other fad diets.
