Fat Loss Success-In-Progress

I wanted to thank everyone for the input that I have received, particularly on diet (you guys know your stuff!). I have finally buckled down on losing weight (planned on losing 10-15 lbs. by the first week of August as of July 10). This is a very out-there goal for me and requires a lot of work and discipline.

As of July 10:
Age: 19 Height: 5'3" Weight: 151 pounds

As of July 16:
Weight: 147.0 pounds

Although this amount is only 4 pounds, I am very satisfied. Not only have I been doing on average 40 minutes of cardio a day, but I also have done a little bit of weight training. This means that I more than likely gained some weight from muscle as well. I can notice a difference in my body as well. My stomach is more flat and I can almost see "ab lines" under my skin. Hopefully, those muscles will show more once I lose more fat!

I am eating healthier. No fried foods. I am eating carbs, but a lower amount, and usually whole grain or wheat. I also eat a lot of salads, fruit, and lean meats like turkey. I have cut down the amount of my dressings by half (I was so bad about overdoing it that my boyfriend called me "Scoop.") I am having horrible chocolate cravings though. I am drinking more water than normal...(I can still work on that more though...) Any suggestions. Keep in mind that I am a college student so I am COMPLETELY BROKE (as in no credit card and like $50 in the bank to last me a week) :(

Thanks guys for your help!
Allison

I know what you mean about the chocolate cravings, they are a bit of a 'mare.

What I've been doing the last 3 months is buying in breakfast snack bars which have chocolate in them. The ones I get are from Tesco (UK supermarket chain). They are about 100 calories a peice with pretty low carb and fat contents. Just enough choccie in 'em to give you that "fix" without adding to the ole waistline.

I've managed to lose 25 pounds in 3 months aswel so they havent harmed me too much.

From what i've found ... if u feed the chocolate craving it will return .. if u ignore it, it will go away for good! But i have heard that if you get those semi-sweet chocolcate chips and put them in the freezer and eat a few when craving that its a good solution ... but i have never checked out the nutrition facts i've just heard they're mostly natural and low sugar ... U could also use chocloate protein bars as your fix?

If your crave chocolate eat some very slow and probably half a serving. If you want to adapt a good eating lifestyle i believe it would be best not to cut out pleasures because it will be a lot harder to keep at it. Moderation and balance.

Haha...funny that you say that newf. My office job doesn't supply nutritional stuff at the vending machine so I bought a Hershey's bar (i know, bad for you) to satisfy my craving and FORCED (and I mean FORCED myself) to give half of it to another co-worker!

Does it seem like I am doing everything else ok? I will do just about anything to reach my goal of a weight loss of 10-15 pounds other than starving myself. My motivation? The ex-boyfriend's wedding! Don't get me wrong. I plan to keep it off after the wedding as well. I just needed a big push to get me started!

Chocolate...

Hmm i have never found myself wanting chocolate, I think im the only one i know of though.

OHH!! Ex's wedding!! WOW!! God luck with that!! You'll be lookin hot and when they say does anyone object he's gonna be thinking i do! ;) Whew cant imagine going to a ex's wedding ... i dont even like mine dating :)

Everyone's kinda stuck on the chocolate thing so to answer your question...You have made some wise moves here, it's a good start. Water is extremely important, make your goal a gallon a day. The lean meats and wheat bread is an improvement for sure, when eating sandwiches it's usually the condiments that will get ya so keep them to a minimum. Also prepare food the day before so you don't get stuck at work without.
