I would suggest taking the time to read some of the forum stickies. You will realize you don't need to cut any single food type completely from your life. You need fats just like everything else. It is all about moderation.
If you drink soda the a first step would be cutting that out of your diet. Also start eating healthy obviously. Try things like eggs, oatmeal, turkey, tuna etc... Changing your diet is a start but it takes a commitment.
I would start by reading several of the treads on this site. There are many different diets out there and you just need to find one that you can stay committed to. The hardest part of any diet is finding one that you can stick with.
it's simple, buy low fat food when there is the option like low fat cottage cheese. be careful though because when there is low fat yoghurt sometimes they make up for the lack of fat with more sugar... don't use fat in cooking! use the 1 cal spray stuff when frying, microwave and grill everything else. you just gotta be savvy really. don't buy things that you know are high fat which you will eat lots of like cheese and chocolate. if it's not there, you won't eat it! just think of substitutes for the things you will miss
