Fat guy from Texas =)

About 50 lbs overweight. I'm working on losing about 40 lbs to join the Air Force within the next 3 months. I used to be 240 lbs of solid mass when I played ball in highschool, but I got married and got fat with the good homecooked meals. It's funny, because when I first got married, I dropped a lot of weight. It's only the past year or so that I've gained a lot. I'm currently employed at the Home Depot as a freight handler overnights. I've recently cut out all Pepsi, but I still haven't lost anything. It could be because I substituted Pepsi with Hawaiian Punch instead of water. Who knows.

Most importantly, I'm from Texas.

There are two kinds of people in this world -- Texans and people who wish they were Texans. :D

Good luck from Amor eterno!

I am also a Texan by birth. All of my family is there, and coincidentally, I have a nephew in Midland, Texas that is starting "boot camp" in the Air Force in August.
I wish you well on your weight loss journey.

welcome, welcome!

Welcome! :jump:

I've only just been to Texas once. I liked it... awfully sunny though. I grew up near Langley, AFB. There are a lot of overweight airmen in the AF.

Do you have a plan for weight loss yet?

My favorite recipe for helping friends get off sweet drinks:

1 large cup club soda over ice
1 wedge lime
1 very small splash of grenadine

Remember... the key is tons of soda water, as much lime as you need, and barely any grenadine. It should just be flavor!

Good luck!

Thanks for the wishes, ya'll. I don't have a weight loss plan yet, but I'll try what Healthyhabit suggested with the drinks.

Flavored Perrier is a good shortcut to adding lime/lemon. But if you do that, I wouldn't add the grenadine.. its just not the same taste. Personally I'd also avoid the flavored drinks that have fake sweeteners in them.. its probably just a matter of opinion, but fake sweeteners are scary!

Glaceau made a drink that was called something like... essence water. I love the stuff but its hard to find (sometimes you can find it at Whole Foods or any other natural/organic/etc type market). Basically, its water with the essence of a fruit flavor. Sounds kinda odd... but its good.

Ya know that smell you get in the house when you cook with a lot of lime? The whole house just fills with the aroma of lime... its like water + that. So good!

I've never really got into limes that much. Only with Coronas.

Corona's good stuff :D

Welcome - I'm new too. Never been to texas or the US actually.

Perrier is wicked (my native French side is coming out lol).

Do you have Badoit here? Another french water, less fizzy, with a distinctive taste. I like it a bit better. It's too expensive though (I'm a skint student lol).
