Fat Camp???

My mother and step dad just told me they will send me to fat camp in America next year if I do not start losing weight. This is totally ridiculous. I am overweight but not that bad. 5' 11" and 207lb is far from obese. I am 16 years old and old enough to make my own decisions that matter to me. They have restricted my computer usage to 1.5hrs a day and are strictly enforcing it and feeding me bland diet food every night.

I need to show them I am capable of losing weight and getting into shape on my own. Does anyone know of a way I can reason with them without being sent across the Atlantic to a fat camp?

Fair enough I would like to go on holiday in America but not under these circumstances.

Josh.

You're at the borderline of obesity, sorry to say. Right now you are considered overweight, close to obesity if you continue doing what you're doing. I say at about age 21, you'll be in the obesity category.

Perhaps you can show them you do not need to go to fat camp by doing the following:

0) Educate yourself in nutritional values. Show your parents that you know what to eat, and what not to eat. Stop drinking soda, and start drinking water only. Stop eating fast food or limit it to once a week. Ask around the forum if you need help.
1) Play a sport, or otherwise participate in some activity that involves the use of your body.
2) Ask your parents if they can buy you a membership to some gym or perhaps you can use your school gym.
3) Educate yourself in exercises.
