So im sure everyone has had this in their life at some point or another. Well this has been my major problem in why I am they way I am.

-Mc Donalds
-Burger King
-Taco Bell
-Wendys

the list goes on...

and to top it off im eating fast food 3 - 5 times / week

Does anyone have any recommendations on how to kinda get away from the fast food addiction? ...

any help would be greatly appreciated.

there are better choices to be made at fast food places... check their websites for the nutrition info and pre-arm yourself.

Otherwise... why are you eating fast food 3 - 5 x a week? Can you cook? even if it's one day a week that you prep meals and then just reheat... later in the week. Pack your own lunch? or pack snacks to keep with you so you won't be tempted to go to the fast food places.

There are fast food places, like subway, that are quick, not that expensive, and offer much healthier options for you..

Just tell yourself that you are worth more than that - don't sell yourself short! Eat enough good food - fibrous food and water, so that you don't feel hungry - If you need to snack - no problem, just snack on something thats good for you.

If you know that all these fastfoodjoints use the flesh of animals who have had a miserable life and died a miserable death, I think you're going to think twice before stopping there..I'm especially focussing on KFC and burger king.

If you're eating so much fast food out of convenience you could try getting things that are quick and easy to cook at home. Not sure if they have this in Canada or USA, but I get McCain steam fresh vegetables. Basically its a bunch of veggies in little bags that you microwave for 2 or 3 minutes and they're done. You can also microwave some chat potatoes to go with them and grab some minute steak or something like that... not too bad for you.

my fast food habits are slowly coming to a halt... ive only snacked on fast food once in teh last 2 weeks ... so not too bad but still need to eliminate it from my life.

went out today bought a bunch of fruit ... green tea and healthy snacking foods

thanx for all the great ideas for cutting it out ...

yummm fast food...j/k (I think)

I have totally cut off fast food unless I get a side salad. In a month or two I will be traveling with a group and we always eat nothing but fast food. Better start researching the smart(er) things I will eat.

I'm always so tempted to pull off the road when I pass in N out burger..I love their shakes. But I can't get into that habit, because then I'll keep taking that 5 minute detour and the calories will build up! I've gone a few times in the past..but have resisted recently. I just have to tell myself that my happiness is worth more than a shake.

Even though gas prices are up maybe take a different route!I am going through the out to eat blues and they must show a commercial for my favorite place(olive garden pasta no flesh lol)and I flip the channle right away taking the out of sight out of mind aproach.Tammy

When I first lost weight 8 years ago, I dropped 20 lbs. in 3 months. One of the things I did was instead of eating juicy hamburgers which I LOVE, I ate soy-based veggie burgers. I love Boca Burgers! Also, instead of buying fries from someplace, I would eat oven-baked fries at home. And I quit my addiction to Coca-Cola and started drinking water. Now whenever I eat out, I don't order soda anymore. That's extra calories you don't need.

Right now I live next to a mall with a food court, and there's a place there with the best Philly Cheesesteaks. So whenever I get the craving for a Cheesesteak, instead of going out to eat an 800-calorie sub, I microwave a 300-calorie Lean Pocket that is Philly Cheesesteak flavored. I also like to eat Morningstar Farms' soy Hot Dogs which taste like normal hot dogs to me. And Heinz now makes One-Carb Ketchup with 1/3 the calories as usual, and I can't taste the difference. It's all about finding somewhat similar, yet healthier foods to replace those fast food cravings.

Oh yeah, I don't really know how to cook, so I rely a lot on microwavable meals so I don't have to eat out. Smart Ones and Lean Cuisine have some really great and filling dishes out there.

i understand the problem. i used to manage a mcdonalds. and i know that is the reason for my size now. yes, i could have chosen to bring my food to work with me and not eat there. but 1 it was free 2 it was easy and 3 yummy!!! i don't eat ff anymore. i agree with a pp subway is great! you could make your lunches and take them with you. or just order a side salad with a gr. chick. breast... or eat the gcb alone... no where near as filling... but no where near as bad either.

I havn't touched fast food in years, I can't tell you a good way to get away from it though, but I can tell you the good news that once you've been away from it for a while, and you try and have some again, It's going to probably make you feel sick so you won't want to eat it ever again.

I've treated fast food like it was an alcohol addiction . I prepare and take my food with me when i go to work instead of F.F. Go cold turkey It's the best way. Don't even go into these establishments.
