EXTREME weight fluctuation

Well, Most people know im on a cutting routine, goal is 175 and to sustain below 180. The last two weeks I hit the routine additionally hard. I was running 6 miles every other day. Weights 4 times a week. Diet was spot on, probably a hair low taking in aroun 1800-2000 healthy cals (only chicken and vegetables, ONLY) and water was all I drank. I cut from 190 down to 181, the lowest I had been.

Then this weekend happened, and like every other red blooded college student I got plastered. This seems to be a vicious cycle. I woke up this morning and weighed myself from 2 days of fun...194 lbs. Is it even possible to put on 13 pounds in 2 days? Man I am pissed. I enjoy working out, and I am on a drive to lose my last 6-20 lbs (i guess...depending on which day of the week I weigh myself  )

Just frustrated I guess...back at it tomorrow. Here is a picture of the fun i was having...hahahaha

Water

If all you were eating was chicken, veggies and water to make up that many calories for 2 weeks, then most of your loss was most likely water weight. With minimal carbs to "soak up" water its likely it just all got flushed. Indulging suddenly in some fun for 2 days it IS possible to gain that much water weight if your carb intake was significant. I have gained 6 pounds overnight due to stuff like that.

I used put on two or three pounds over the weekend even though I ate clean and usually >10% total daily calories of what I ate during the week because I don't workout on the weekend. I didn't party either. I couldn't put my finger on it under I realised I wasn't drinking much water on the weekends like I did at work, where I would drink about 4 litres a day. Once I upped my water intake on the weekend this phenomenon stopped.

What happens is when you drink heaps of water your body knows that it's plentiful and has no need to hold on to it. When you stop drinking it, it thinks, "Uh Oh, here comes the dry season" so it stores whatever water you do drink for the upcoming drought, remembering your body still think you are living in Western Africa somewhere.

So to hold less water weight you need to drink more water. Sounds weird, but it works.

Sounds like water weight. Don't get discouraged, just get right back on your plan.

How many calories do you plan on eating?

i was just going to make a thread about this myself. i was trying to bulk and i had gained 10 lbs in less then 3 weeks. and over the weekend im with friends and i dont have time to eat liek a fat ass/ i was to busy drinking. friday morning i weight in at 155 today i weight in at 149(monday morning).

conclusion: once in a while a fun weekend is needed but if it messes up your whole routine; what you put all your sweat into 5 days a week, is it worth it? yes. haha but not every weekend. so if the bad over weighs the good then dont do it.(no pun intended)

I'd say it is entirely possible. If you are on a very strict cutting diet and then eat and drink a lot. Many years ago I cut down over a 3 month period to 167 pounds for a contest and then immediately after the contest I ate and drank whatever and was at 184 within 48 hours, up 17 pounds!

Especially with no grains or anything, they will cause you to retain water.. And you're probably very water depleted, besides what's being digested. It will come off easier than it did before, but it's still there.

Man that's really weird. The past couple weekends I've been out drinking and I wake up the next day a pound or two lighter.

Well, I did forget one detail lee, I was drinking 2 protein shakes a day...I definately wasnt going hungry, though. Im guessing you are saying my diet is still off? I was drinking right at a gallon of water a day also.
