Extreme Soreness (Biceps)

For the past two days or so, my right arm (biceps, near the elbow) has been extremely sore, but more intensely than the usually after-workout soreness. Bending my elbow or straightening my arm (with no resistance either way) leads to a sharp pain in my biceps. The pain isn't too bad, but I can practically feel the muscle fibers screaming.

I've got no doubt that it's from mild lifting and my tennis, but I was wondering if there is any way to reduce or eliminate the pain. Also, I've got a tournament tonight - will playing cause an injury or anything like that?

I always say have a doctor look at injuries. That being said-alternate ice and heat.

Most likely it's inflammation of the elbow flexors.

a safe general rule is "if it hurts, don't do it"

I wouldn't play tonight, I tried playing tennis with tendonitis in my wrist.

Owww...

I've taken a few days off and I'm going to try to ease back into it some. Thanks for the tips and I never thought of elbow flexors - thanks. Hopefully I'll feel okay when I get back out to play, because I'm feeling pretty good right now.
