Exercising on sore calf muscles, is this ok?

Hi, I would like to know, is it ok to exercise on sore calf muscles? I jumped rope for about 45 minutes yesterday and then today my calves were pretty sore but I stretched them out and jumped rope for 30 minutes. I just want to make sure this is not a stupid thing to do. Will exercising on sore muscles mean less strength gain in the long run?

. . .

ok, so even though nobody wants to give me advice I thought I'd follow up anyway . . . after jumping rope for 30 minutes on sore calf muscles yesterday I can barely walk! So, obviously I took today off and I'm hoping the rest will facilitate some muscle gain.

So I'm no pro but am/was in the same situation your in and this is what I do. Drink a protein shake after working out hard which will help soreness and change up what your doing a little. I jumped rope and my calfs were sore as well so I took a day off and then replaced the rope with a run followed up by a protein drink and then the next day went back to the rope. Two days ago I started drinking half a scoop before and half a scoop after working out and my body seems to like that a little more but I can't really say if that's for sure or just my workout taking effect.

Sore? or aching?

If the movment is restricted and it hurts too much, or if you flinch when you strech then no, youve pulled it or dome someother damage.

If it only hurts when you tense up and you get a dull warm almost pleasent sensation, then its just DOMS, google it, its fine to keep working out.
