Sure, I could have done a good search, but this is way more fun.
Are you on your feet all day? Not at all? answer the poll, please.
And let us know how you feel about work and exercise.
Personally, When I'm on my feet and walking around at work, I am better able to weight. I think it helps a lot.
What sucks is when you don't have a consistent opportunity to move around at work, like if you sit for one month, and are standing, or moving around the next.

I drive a lot. Currently 250miles/day and then maybe 60-90 minutes on my feet walking/climbing etc.
More active than a desk job but not exactly physical labor.

I only work part time but the days I do work involve walking and standing all day interspersed with running and some lifting (stretchers).

i'm on my feet for 12 hours, 4 nights a week, and yes, it does help, but i still need cardio exercise to add to it during the week because if i don't do cardio for ages, i feel out of breath from the slightest things. i'm not the fittest of people, and my weight puts a lot of pressure on my feet/ankles/knees when i'm at work, so i love to swim, it's great for cardio/toning and i take along my waterproof mp3 player and listen to music or audiobooks whilst i'm swimming so i could stay in the pool for hours.

When I'm on 'days on' I stay in a travel trailer 24/7 so take dumbbells and try to be good about working out. I typically do 'something' of a workout every other day but in restricted space I can't pretend it's a great workout. If I'm lucky, the rig will be in a location where I can do a road run 1-2x a week but in the summer I'm not going to try too hard to make an opportunity.

Sometimes I'll do a lot of push-ups in a day or I might stick with dumbbells.

On the plus side, I buy a weeks food on the way, and if I don't buy junk then there's no way to get junk. So I have an opportunity to be very strict with myself on food plus my employer picks up the tab so I can get the nicer greek yoghurts, 4% ground beef etc. I drink nothing but coffee/water while I'm at work.

Sit at my desk all day, but still get fit!

Yea, I sit at my desk all day, but I'm tired of using it as an excuse. It takes 30 minutes 3 days a week of strength training and 60 minutes 3 days a week of Cardio, along with at least marginally healthier eating to turn your life around. I've gained 30 pounds since I've worked in an office, but I've now signed up for a gym membership to help me get my butt working. Yea, I'm crunched for time but not THAT crunched, and I've even made it an effort to get up at least once an hour to walk around a bit to make a dent in my sedentary lifestyle.

Even if you can't afford a gym, there are so many FREE online workouts. Even doing simple known workouts (jumping jacks for cardio, push ups/crunches for strength) WILL give you results if you just do it.

I believe in all of you.

LETS CHANGE OUR LIFES AND LET THE EXUSES GO!

I work from 9 to 6, sitting, in an office with a PC + Phone ... lol

I used to sit almost all the time. I like my job and I enjoy what I do. But, these days, I have done some changes. Every 1 hour, I stand from my chair. Do streching, and if it's possible I walk to the WC. Hahahaha! No matter if I'm on need. I just go there. Wash my hands, fix my hair, the thing is ...walk walk. I also do sit ups sometimes. (30 or so).

If you have another idea of what I can do... please reply! :p

Exercise

Exercising to lose weight requires that muscles must be stressed for short
periods then allowed to rest for 9 days to recover. This builds your muscle
mass. muscle burns fat. (7 min per day per muscle group)

Exercise a different muscle group every other day for 9days.
This gives each group time to recover before that group is
exerciesd again.

Enjoy

sittin' 'round

I'm a programmer so my livelihood depends on my being at my computer. I got into the habit of finding stupid reasons to get up and away from my seat (also helps avoid burn-out), and with the help of staying hydrated, nature forces me up from my chair about once an hour.

I've come to value the time I spend exercising. It's something good I do for me, and the side affect is that it helps me reach my weight loss goals.
