Hi, I just joined the forum and I'm looking for tips on good exercises. I'm 17 years old, 5'7, and I currently weigh about 148. I'm looking to get down to 125ish (23 lbs) by September and then start toning up. Any exercises that have worked for you? Thanks!

For losing weight, I'd say be very picky about your calories. This means not only HOW MANY calories you eat, but also what beneficial each calorie is. What I mean is that you can meet your daily quota of calories by only eating butter, or you can eat MUCH MORE vegetables, lean meat, and healthy fats. meaning you get full from shear volume of food you're eating, but still getting the same amount of calories. This will help curb your appetite. You won't have those cravings. The key is vegetables. Lots and lots of vegetables.

For working out, I don't know how up to par your cardio is, but people say "go run, elliptical, etc etc". I heavily endorse playing a sport. I can't stand running on a treadmill for even 15 minutes, but I can play tennis, or soccer, for an hour and a half to two hours. Find your little niche and enjoy yourself. Don't make it a chore. Cardio will tone up your legs, and if your choice of cardio uses running, then your core will also gain some strength.

toning up the rest of your body will come from body-weight exercises or weight-lifting. I'd say if you're not to concerned with getting big, which it seems like your'e not, you should try circuit training. This is where you work out different parts of your body. You go from legs, to shoulders, to arms, to chest, to back, to abs. This will allow you to go nonstop by working out unrelated body parts (cardio-ish).

Diet/nutrition is 80% of the success, the gym is the last 20%.

Take what I say with a grain of salt. I'm not a professional, but it's just a general overview to get you started. Best of luck!
