Exercise + Diet = Weight loss?

I've completed my first week at the Gym, now wondering if I am doing things right or not.
It would be great if you could give me some advice, I'm currently 17, 6 foot 1 in height and I weigh in at 230 pounds.
I'd like to lose about 30 pounds in a year.

Right now I go to the Gym every other day - roughly 3 times per week.

I use the Bike for 35 mins where I burn around 300 calories.

Then I use the Rowing Machine for 10 mins and I burn 100 calories

Followed by going on the treadmill for 20 mins where I burn about 150 calories

After that I do some Weights for around 15 mins.

For a Daily diet I try to keep it around 1500 calories

For Breakfast I have 2 pieces of rye bread.

For Lunch I have 2 Warburton Thins which are 100 calories each, accompanied by 2 slices of low fat cheese which are 60 calories each.

Lunch = 320 calories

For Dinner I tend to have meals that my Mother makes as I still go to College and live at home.

These are average and I would presume to be around the 500 calorie mark.

When I have been to the Gym I tend to have a Banana after and before.

If anybody could give me some advice on how to improve this for greater weight loss that would be very much so appreciated.

Thank you :) !

Thanks for sharing such informative post.

NIICCEE!!! Awesome HK!! Good job!! I love the way how you write!! It makes sense and is easy to understand!

30 pounds in a year? You should be able to do that a lot faster if you're really motivated !
I've lost 40 pounds in 1 month and half already by doing a lot of walking ( every morning and every evening ) everyday for 1 month and half, I also limited the sodas ( I can drink a soda sometimes, or even some beers but I try to limit that ) I obviously don't eat any fast food (I went to a fast food only once the 10 past years so It was not hard for me to stop...^^) But I've absolutely cut the in-betweens, so now I have 3 meals / day, and it seems to work really well for me so far, I feel more athletic than ever now ! ( I'm at 94 kg ) and I was at 115 when I started.

Good luck !

Whichever one works best for you and you can keep up with consistently.

Strength training really helps, too, because you burn more calories throughout the whole day while your muscles recover, instead of just during your workout.

Everything you are doing is good ! But I wouldn't go less than 1800 calories per day for my diet, and have a light dinner! Include snacks to your daily intake!
Keep consistency, you can lose more than 30 pounds a year! But I prefere your way to think it is pretty realistic

Exercise+Diet=Weight Loss. That was right. What your doing is fine, but actually you can lose that 30lbs in a short time rather that a year. Good luck on your goal.

Try out these different cardio exercises along with your weight loss program to add that zing to your workout routine.
