Exercise - all at once or spread out over the day??

Hi everyone!!

Whats the best way to exercise?? Currently I walk/hike for 45 minutes at a conservation park, hop in the car, drive 5-7 minutes to my local Contours (weights and cardio), do a 25 minute work out there, hop in the car again, drive home and do a 30 minute session on my treadmill or cross trainer.

Is that the best way to do it? All in one hit (I like it cause it gets it out of the way!!) or would my body respond better and with faster results if I were to spread it out over the day???

I do it 5-6 times a week... (or try to at least, when life doesnt get in the way!!)

Working out once a day is fine, you need to seperate you're week into different muscle groups, and have rest days for each muscle groups, you shouldn't be exercising all muscle groups, every day, 5-6 times a week.

Designate muscle groups to each day, and exercise them on the respective days, and rest them on the next muscle group.
 
Hmm, yeah definantly have rest days for certain muscle groups.

I have a question, is it really that much better for you to run outside? (Rather than on the treadmill) Isn't it harder on your joints outside?

It's all about the surface, and how heavy your steps are.
