Excess skin surgery

I'm not sure if this is exactly the right place for this..but has anyone gotten plastic surgery after extreme weight loss? I'm looking into getting a full body lift but not sure if I really NEED it (Just my stomach and legs) I can deal with my arms ect. I don't have that much skin but it is overlapping and giving me a little bit of discomfort so looks like surgery will most likely happen. I have a consult next week but I was just looking to see if anyone else had a similar experience or are planning on having one.

Oh, and wondering if people's insurance covered the cost of their surgery. From what I have heard back from mine (BCBS) they have said as long as I have documented weight loss of more than 100+ and have had it off for awhile then they're going to pay the costs of the surgery.

I haven't had plastic surgery to remove excess skin but have recently done a lot of research into it(I recently discovered that it might be possible for me in a year re: finances) and from most sources I've read that it's very, very very very unlikely to be covered by insurance. :(

A few years ago I lost 65 lbs and I have definite excess skin issues- when I finally lose the last 15 in the next couple months and maintain that stable goal weight for the rest of the year, if the potential financial help pulls through, I am going to see if I'm suitable for brachioplasty and abdomnioplasty.

I wish you the best of luck with your consult!

Well, from what I've heard back from my insurance company they are going to pay for the excess skin *with the possibility of a full body* I have my fingers crossed for the latter! I have BCBS of Michigan and have lost more than 100+lbs and have kept it off.. so as long as I'm healthy and get a date from a plastic surgeon I should be in the clear. Who knows though -- insurance companies can be tricky!

thanks and good luck with you too )

I am not a fan of surgery. Its better to do exercise and lose weight naturally. If it doesn't work. Then be it.

The surgery mentioned here has nothing to do with weight loss. People are talking about lose skin after having lost the weight. Please try to read threads before commenting on them.
