Erika's Diary

Hello everyone, my name is Erika. I am a 23 year old female living in Florida. I have two beautiful baby boys, which are the reason I am trying to lose weight. :rotflmao:

I am currently 184 lbs., wanting to get back down to the 140 lbs. I was before having children, which equals a total of 44 lbs. I would love to lose. My goal is to reach this weight by Christmas.

I'm not exactly sure what method I would like to use yet, but I have heard good things about watching your calories from fat. I am also including exercise in this plan, consisting of swimming, running/walking and pilates, and occasionally going to the fitness center and getting on the treadmill and ellipitical.

I am a stay at home housewife/mom, so when all of the chores are done, I get bored and eat, which does not help matters at all. Snacking is my greatest weakness. The main reason I have gained so much is from being pregnant, and I would love to lose that baby weight!

Welcome to WLF and to motherhood. My baby boys are 18 and 15 and I would give anything to have them for a day at the age yours are!

You are young and there is time. Are you nursing? I have heard that weight loss is 80%diet and 20% exercise.

A mentor told me weight loss is easy if you take it one day, one meal at a time.

Wait for fulfillment. You have to be patient and loving to yourself while you figure out what works for you. You are on a learning curve, so do be patient.

Thank you for your response!

My boys are 2 1/2 and 4 months. They are so much fun!

With my first son I did not nurse, and with my second I tried nursing but he wasnt gaining any weight, so I had to go to formula.

Thank you so much for your encouraging words. I have tried dieting before but I really wasnt seeing any change, so I got frustrated and stopped.

I promise myself that things will be different this time, and I wont allow myself to be discouraged.

Well today was the first day of my diet. A big challenge for me.

For breakfast I didnt eat anything
For lunch I had 2 egg rolls, which came out to be 240 calories.
For dinner I had Chicken Parmesan, which consisted of :
1/2 Chicken Breast (100 calories)
1/2 c. Spagetti sauce (40 calories)
4 oz. Vermicelli noodles (420 calories)
1 c. Iced tea, the powdered mix kind (140 calories)

The grand total of calories eaten today comes out to about 940, and I havent had a snack yet.

I also spent 15 minutes on the treadmill set at random inclines, and burned about 117 calories.

When I walked in from exercising my husband said "wow you dont look like you've been working out at all". I was thinking to myself "gee thanks a lot, its my first day on my diet, and my first day exercising, give me a little bit of credit".

Oh well, I guess if I dont get support from him I'll get it from you guys.

Okay I just had my snack, a fruit cup, and it was 60 calories, which brings my calorie intake for the day to 1000, which is right where I want to be.

I am sort of proud of myself. :)

Wow, you did great! Your husband's comment probably meant that you didn't look sweaty and gross like lots of people do after exercise (including me) - which has got to be a compliment. Keep up the good work!

Okay I just had another glass of tea worth 140 calories, so that brings my total for the day to 980 calories.

I'm so proud of myself, I havent gone over my set limit yet!

Way to go! You're doing fantastic. Are you coping alright with no breakfast and lunch? I usually look forward to eating from the minute I wake (and probably in my dreams at night) so I applaud your awesomeness :)

Welllllll...My tummy does grumble a little during the day, but that will pass once I get used to it.

I have found that if I eat a little throughout the day, I am always hungry. Its like a tease. If I save all of my calories for dinner then I get full enough where I can go to bed without being hungry, because if I'm hungry its really hard for me to go to sleep.

Ah, that makes sense, and I do know what you mean. At least you found something that works for you, right? :)

Yes, thank goodness. All i'm worried about is going off on the wrong track and cheating. I havent cheated yet though, and the other times I have dieted I had cheated by now.

Today was about the same as any other day, I have been starving all day..lol. :rotflmao:

Here are my meals :

Breakfast - Nothing
Lunch - Healthy Choice Chicken Parmigiana frozen meal (370 calories)
A glass of tea, mixed (140 calories)
Dinner - 1 corn dog, baked (180 calories)
15 French Fries, baked (120 calories)
Snack - Can of sliced peaches, in heavy syrup (194 calories)

That brings my total for today to 1004 calories....4 calories over my set limit :(

For exercise I swam for 10 minutes. I wanted to swim more but we had a sudden thunderstorm.

Well today I went more over my limit than I would have liked to :(

My food for today went as follows :

Breakfast - Nothing

Lunch - 5 Beef taquitos (380 Calories)
Tropical Fruit Salad (160 Calories)
Powdered Instant Tea (47 Calories)

Dinner - Turkey and Mustard sandwich
(Bread-139 Calories)(Turkey-94 Calories)
2 c. Apple Juice (233 Calories)

That brings my total for today to 1052 Calories, 52 over my limit :(

As for exercise, I have been chasing around my kids all day, cleaning the house a whole bunch (I hope those two count for something :p), and when my husband gets home from work we are going to hit up the treadmill, elliptical and go for a swim in the pool.

hey just read through your diary! things are looking great. I also think your husband was trying to say you were tough

Don't be too hard if you go over your calories a little. Just do small things to compencate for them, like parking your car farther away from a building, being sure to take stairs, or walk to a place that you normally drive to.

That is a wonderful idea!

Whenever I eat more than I would have liked to I start thinking "oh crap, i'm just going to gain more weight", so then I start hardcore with the exercise. Oh well, at least i'm so tired from the exercise that I sleep really good :p

Hi there,

welcome to the WLF. I was just wondering if you're on a 1000 calorie limit because of doctor's orders or is that your own doing. Reason I ask, for the weight you are at, you should be eating a lot more than just 1000 calories. Gotta becareful, because if you go too low, you'll hit starvation mode. Once that happens, your metabolism will slow down even more, making it much more difficult to lose weight. Just fyi... good luck.

The 1000 calorie diet is my own decision. For my weight, how many calories should I be eating, and still be able to lose weight?

I know there are different methods of dieting, but the calorie counting is the easiest for me. :p
