Emma's Diary

Hi Emma:waving:

First off congrats on getting out of the obese range! That is awesome!!

Secondly, This place helped me say good bye to 60 pounds a few years ago...so the support really really helps....IF WE TAKE IT! I started to feel bad about my habits and I ran away and now I gained 40 of the 60 back...:banghead:

But you know what I know what to do! I just have to do it! So please vent and release all the stress you need and I will try to help you and you try to help me and in no time we will both be were we want to be! :)

Sending Good Vibes,
Tete :grouphug:

Emma, I read your posts in other diaries & thought "here is a really helpful, positive person." You obviously are. Now you have to apply that to yourself. Your diary could be my diary. You're young & now is the best time to make long term plans for your health & well-being. You will save a lifetime of yo yo dieting if you get it right now. Giving up smoking is wonderful. Learning to drink in moderation is probably harder, when we are surrounded by a binge culture. If you have a break from drinking, which I am doing again, at the moment, you will reap the benefits, in weight-loss as well as feeling better, in general. I love having a wine at the end of the day, but used to drink way too much. (We ran a pub for 18 years, working 7 days & long evenings)
It's getting to where you feel you want to be & where you are happy with yourself that is really important. Learning to love yourself is the biggest hurdle I think. I know it sounds cliched, but we really should treat our bodies like temples. I so empathise with you, describing hiding behind your fat. I did it for YEARS & YEARS. No more!
Happy to have you here Emma, xo Cate

Hey emma,

Change really is hard! I try to break it up into small, realistic tasks. And stay in the day! I tell myself I will eat healthy today. Who knows what tomorrow brings? I only have to do it today. That makes it more manageable for me.

Good luck with the consultation.

Hi Emma, I'm sorry you had a bad day & were teary. It is hard making so many changes, but you are doing the right thing by deciding to make your health a high priority. You must remember that there is no such thing as a perfect person, so if somewhere along the way you feel you have slipped up (we all do) accept that you are still learning & keep moving forward. Learning to love ourselves is what we need to do. Don't beat up on yourself. You must become your own best friend. I think it's wonderful that you are taking these positive steps. Giving up smokes is huge. They are so addictive & so toxic (my sister died of lung cancer 9 years ago.) Take care sweetie, xo Cate
PS Speaking of slipping up! I just sent a message to you accidentally on MFP, instead of to someone else. I didn't twig that it was you, from your username. I will stick to my WLF friends on MFP in future (plus my sister). I sent another msg to you afterwards saying "mistake" Call it a senior moment or whatever you like! Sorry :blush5:
