electronic ab and muscle devices (Good or NOT Good)

I've seen so many commercial and devices that say that you can just see around and relax, kick it back and watch TV and play on the PC while the electronic device attached to your ab muscles will give you rock solid abs or you can develop your chest biceps , triceps or any muscle group with it. I personally didn't believe in those lines, but to see for myself I bought two electronics devices and concetrated on the abs , i used the extensively and I saw no results. When I did the old-fashioned way, worked out in the gym I got good abs in a short period of time. So I'm pretty much conviced that the electronic devices are no good. However, I might've used them incorectlly. Is there anyone that saw any good of these devices. Any PROS/CONS of them , because I've heard that the electric waves that they use can be harmful for the body. Any device of this kind that was actually found effective ? . Thanks a lot .

you gotta use some common sense when it come to those types of devices. Think.... if it's so easy to get a six pack using these things, why is there so many people walking around over weight? If it's to good to be true than it probably is. we'd all like to believe that the stuff works but you got to be a skeptic when it comes to stuff like that. or else you'll end up broke.

I've even heard of people getting skin burns from them because they set them too high and left them on for too long.

I own one of these because it became part of rehab. My therapist filled me in on what they do. They are the very first step in rebuiding muscle, when strength work is too much. In essence, they are kinda like training wheels. If you want a six pack, you won't get it without real work.

The electrostim units won't do any more for muscle growth than curling beers at the local pub will get you huge biceps. Unfortunately, some company's marketing machine advertises it promising what it cannot deliver and getting sales from it.

Nice to hear that. I was thinking of buying one to try it out. I now know that it's not worth it and will rather keep doing my sit ups to get my abs toned.
