Elbow pain after boxing/lifting

Hey everyone

So I had a pretty active week. I think it took its toll on me however. I am attending a police academy and did 5 days straight of defensive tactics (hand to hand combat at 2 hours a session) On my own I went to the gym and lifted 2 times that week. I also attended 2 private martial arts classes. This mean I was continuously hitting a punching bag or shadow boxing.

Well out of nowhere my elbow starts to hurt. I first noticed it while doing a bench press. Its a pain in my joint/tendon that makes my arm feel a tad weaker than usual. It hurts when I pick up heavy items at odd angles.

I put some biofreeze on it and took some motrin and then it goes away.

Needless to say, Im concerned. Just basically because Id like to know whats wrong. Ive given my self a rest from lifting and basically just run and do the academy stuff right now.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

Where was the pain? If it has gone away now and if it doesn't reappear later when you train, then it's not a big deal. If it starts to nag you often though and if it won't go away by itself, you should probably see someone about it.

Look up the symptoms for tennis elbow and see how that compares. Basically, tennis elbow is inflammation of a tendon that runs on the outside (lateral) part of your elbow. If it is tennis elbow, and only your orthopedist can diagnose this, not you, not me, then there are some standard treatment procedures mainly rest, more rest, more rest, ice, maybe ibuprofen.

The pain is located down the outside of the arm but above the joint where the elbow bends. If I drew a line my shoulder and onto the elbow, that would be the approximate location. It appears to be the upper rear portion. But when it hurts, the pain isnt entirely centralized there.

ive taken a few days off, we'll see how I feel the next time I hit the bag.

Thanks for the help
