Geez, I'm frusterated.

I got down to an all-new low last week and lost 2-3 pounds (my goal is to drop 1.5 a week), but this week it appears I've gained 2 of those back. I'm keeping my calories down the same. The only difference is one night I stayed up really late and got 2 hours of sleep, and I've started adding walking into my routine this week.

Could this be water-retention from that or some screwy metabolism thing?

Smells like water retention to me...I wouldn't worry about it.

Gosh, that's a relief! But is it normal for it to happen straight for several days though?

I'm hiding the scale til next week. It's just discouraging me.

Completely normal. I weigh myself daily and I see the same thing. I have gotten used to the water fluctuations. Just know that if you were counting your calories that it would have been impossible for you to gain fat weight. One lb of fat GAINED would be 3500 EXTRA calories. The main idea is that when you step back from your weightloss chart that you see a general trend downward. If these small fluctuations really get to you, ditch the scale and only weigh in every week or so.
