Eating in the Evening!!

My whole life my triggers to eating have been three things:
Night time; being upset/stressed/frustrated/mad; and boredom

During the day, I stay busy, I work hard, play hard, blah blah. But, say a rainy Sunday, I'm eating all day, or if I'm overly stressed or upset, I grab food, "zone out" sorting it out in my head and eat. Or, in the evening, after work, when I'm home, I want to eat. Cereal, ice cream, chips, anything.

I want to focus right now on eating at night. Does anyone (ANYBODY) struggle with the same thing, and if so, how do you try to combat this? I know it's discipline and willpower, but any points, advice, anything would be appreciated. Nothing makes me feel worse about myself than doing well all day long, and working out, just to lose focus at 8pm and gorge.

Please help my fat a$$!!

Why are you gorging?

How many calories have you had during the day that you're so hungry at night?

There's nothig wrong with nighttime eating as long as you're in your calorie range... but if you're eating because you're bored... then find something to do so you won't be bored... turn off the television and read a book, knit, play a musical intrument....

this question gets asked a lot - searching might also give you more answers

How about stress, sleep loss? are you stress or sleep loss? there's a glue between obesity and stress or sleep loss. they make you cravings, and the worst is you are always cravings for high fat foods :reddevil:

Do more physical exercises to release stress, drink hot milk before bed time 2 or 3 hours, take hot water bath at night, go around.... these help you sleep earlier and sleep well then you forget your cravings.

Bananas are good snack for weight loss cos they give energy without fat. In addition, green tea if my favortite beverage.

Changing eating habit is not difficult, but takes time.

I was the same way. The cravings at night were almost unbearable. The only thing that got me through it was looking forward to the breakfast I was going to have the next morning. My problem was originally that I never ate breakfast, so I binged on food later in the day. Knowing that in the morning I'm going to have an omelet and some turkey bacon or a smoothie and toast with peanut butter, made me stop focusing on how bad I wanted to binge. I'd also grab a bottle of water and if it was sweets that I was craving I'd mix in some crystal light or nestea flavour to give me that sweetness without the calories.

That's what worked for me, but we could be different. Find out what works for you, but I would start by making sure you're eating a full healthy breakfast. After awhile it'll become a habit not to pig out on food at night. That's not to say you'll never have cravings again, because I sure as heck do, but they're fewer and further between and less intense than they used to be.
