Eating Before Workout

I eat lunch at noon and go to the gym at 4:30. I try to get a snack in there at like 3:30. I've noticed when i dont snack that I'm really tired doing cardio and have a hard time finishing my 45min-1hr but if i snack then i have much more energy and can do better cardio. I've heard you should not eat before working out for 2 hrs ..is this right? I've also heard you should eat carbs 5 min before doing cardio ...are these complex carbs or simple carbs... which is right and if i can eat before then what would be good like a protein bar or like some triscuits ... confused? :)

You want to eat around an hour before weight training. Has with cardio there's many different things you can do. For instance, a lot of people do fasted cardio in the morning with the thinking that you have an empty stomach and the body will rely on fat stores but some say you will lose too much muscle. If you doing it for weight loss, fasted is probably the best. This topic is widely debated, do whatever you like and see how it goes.

you can have something up to say 15 minutes before. the important thing is that it doesnt interfere with the workout, say like with digestion issues or flatulence (to show respect for others) ;)

solid food is you're looking at 45 minutes or longer, liquid calories if 15-30 minutes before. personally i feel that its more important about calories consumed vs burned over the course of the day over whats burned in and around a workout
